This group is dedicated to the discussion of home use music Audio CD ( compact disc ) playing hardware - CD players, changers, recorders, vintage or modern, budget or high end, common or rare, and associated equipment like CD transports, DAC units, etc. This list is aimed to cover primarily home audio equipment, not PC drives/burners , not car players, and not walkman type portable CD gear. While the late 1990's saw the introduction of new disc formats like DVD, DVD-A, SACD, etc, this groups focus will remain primarily on dedicated ( CD only ) players/changers, not multiformat players to keep the scope reasonable.
Discussions can cover a wide range from sound quality, features, styling, maintenance, modifications, repairs, etc. Comparsions to other formats like vinyl, SACD, DVD-Audio, etc welcome. While not a music group per se, good demo / tests discs for CD player
Evaluation will be considered on topic, BUT we encourage you to join our sister group

Its been almost 30 years since the CD format was developed by Sony and Philips and while the CD format is currently on the wane in popularity, but there is no denying there have been many many great and interesting models produced over the years and now a great legacy selection of software/music to play on them exists too so these are still worthy of use and discussion. Join in and talk about these interesting Audio CD players of yesterday and today.
