Definite risk. Quake happened on Swan Island transform
(south side of 6 km deep Cayman Trough). Undersea landslide could have occurred
(Tsunami watch (NOT WARING) was issued as conditions favorable
(magnitude and water depth) for tsunami was present. Luckily it did
not. See USGS site for details. Landslides and tsunami can
also be triggered by aftershocks.
There is no local warning system. No paleotsunami studies
along the north coast of Honduras.
Aftershocks are real and likely to happen for next few
weeks. Heightened awareness should observed in coastal zones…….
If a sudden low tide happens, it’s time to find high ground.

Any risk of tsunami?, is the area prepared for this sort of event? is there a
system of alert for tsunamis?, any studies reporting paleo tsunamis, anywhere
in the area?
Please directo me to those sources.
Thanks
