Hello,
I am a geologist working on stone conservation problems at the Maya
site of Copan. I am looking for any research articles or reports
characterizing the altered rhyolite and andesite tuff found in this
region and used in the sculptures and structures at Copan (Padre
Miguel Group). Also, information about stone weathering in this
region
and any local studies of lichens/biodeterioration would be helpful.
I have found some good information (see below + Georef) and a number
of earlier unpublished reports on Copan stone, but I was hoping to
find
some data to compare my results on the hydrothermal alteration and
geochemistry of the tuffs.
Regards...
