Just like every webmaster, you want your website to be on top when there is a query in Google. Ranking highly in organic search engine results is a key element for bringing traffic to your website. The higher you rank for search queries, the more often your website is presented to the internet community. The process to achieve these results is called search engine optimization.
The elements of good search engine optimization and ranking higher in organic search results are maintaining high web standards, accessibility and usability of your website. What improves the visibility of any site is the human usability factor, unique and quality content, easy indexing for search robots and the sites appeal to visitors.
There are many webmasters, site owners and consultants that engage in search engine optimization. It is actually considered to be a subset of search engine marketing which takes into account the optimization of website content, its keywords and meta tags. It also minimizes the use of complex scripts to increase the ability for search engine robots to crawl your website for content. If you do not have the technical expertise to optimize your own site you should search out a qualified professional to assist you.
Improving search engine optimization will involve the site's coding for structure, presentation and correctly allowing robots to index the site. You also measure visitor traffic and the keywords that are used to find the website and the conversion of those keywords to the desired action of sign up, purchase or a certain landing page.
Another part of search engine marketing that is important for obtaining higher rankings is link building. To increase your websites visibility to the search engines and drive traffic and search engine robots to your website for indexing, you should submit your website to quality directories to increase inbound links that are relevant to your sites topic.
By taking these actions you should see an increase in traffic and inbound links to increase your search rankings.

Phoenix technology company, DotVentures, LLC is making it much easier and more effective for companies to launch marketing Blogs by integrating its patent pending search optimization technology into an easy to manage publishing/search marketing tool. Company officials believe that this new tool will solidify social media marketing as being the de facto standard for web marketing, leaving older and clunky web site design and programming in the dust.

(PRWEB) July 23, 2007 -- A new partnership between an Internet Real Estate company, DotVentures, LLC of Arizona and Search Marketing, LLC yields a collaboration that has created what could be the holy grail of SEO and Blog Marketing. It recommended that if companies are considering publishing any new content on the Internet, they should strongly consider a tool like this before investing anymore in old technology.

The tool is available in beta at: http://moguling.com

Until now, the SEO process meant constructing a site and working hard to achieve ranking. This has evolved into a whole science involving keyword research, painstaking site development & programming, along with constant maintenance in merely the hope that search engines will notice. Moguling doesn't nullify that but takes the same SEO principals, automates them and supercharges the results with an indexing tool that can even make topic suggestions, based on keyword relevancy.

"This tool will definitely shake some things up in the SEO space. We estimate that some companies will save up to 90% of what's currently being spent on Search Engine Optimization". That's how powerful and effective this tool can be and if you're not using it soon, you could get left behind in a real hurry," says Kiloh Smith, one of the larger users of the new tool as well as the company's chief marketing managers. Everyone knows that blogging is starting to take over Internet rankings because it so responsive to the user and so dynamic by nature.

Kiloh Smith says, "We have also found that by connecting Blogs to an existing web site is a great way to begin the integration process of social media and traditional web sites, but eventually everything will evolve into what users want to say about you or your products, not the "'one way'" marketing done in the past."

Mr. Smith continues with, "The Moguling blog pages are very dynamic, and constantly-changing. There is no comparison. We're getting top rankings on competitive keywords in an extremely short period of time. We've literally taken a $10 domain name and increased its value by hundreds of times within a few months. With rising advertising costs, businesses will benefit in a hurry from this tool."

The tool works great for domainers, new start up businesses or existing businesses looking to leverage a strong online strategy by blogging. http://moguling.com

Mr. Smith says, "Blogging via Moguling creates a constant influx of optimized content being posted to the blog. The blog then acts as a repository for this content. After say… twenty posts have been accumulated a real resource on the subject the blog is about has been created. With the help of the tool's simple but effective keyword optimization features, search engine spiders begin to take notice of this and start to classify your new content with greater enthusiasm (high rankings)."

DotVentures, LLC is a privately held company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. The company develops online real estate for a range of clients and also is developing online real estate around about 3,000 of its own domain names using the tool. PartII

4. Most Requested Page(s) and Top Entry Pages.

Tracking these pages is key to measuring the success of your SEO campaign.

If your optimization is effective, the Top Entry Pages and Most Requested Pages should be those that you have optimized for target keywords.

The Top Entry Pages are particularly relevant as you consider the pathways through your site. Do the most popular entry pages have any relationship to the start pages for your plotted visitor pathways? Or are visitors entering and navigating your site via ways you didn't intend? You can use this information to continually tweak your page optimization to guide visitors to the right pathways.

To see your most requested pages, look for the graph or chart titled "Most Requested Pages" in your log files / site statistics. Also look for "Top Entry Pages".

5. Page refreshes

Why are visitors refreshing pages on your site? Are the pages not loading properly? The "Page Refreshes" variable is another one to monitor on a monthly basis via your site stats to ensure that there are not site usability issues for visitors.

6. Referring Domains and Referring URLs

Where are your visitors coming from? Are they coming from sites that are linked to yours? Are blog authors or forum members talking about your site? Referring Domains will tell you what sites are linking to yours, while Referring URLs will list the actual pages where the links are located.

These can be little gold mines because you can often find valuable sources of traffic via links to your site that you didn't even know existed.

In terms of an SEO campaign, these links can all add to your site's overall link popularity, an important factor in the ranking algorithms of many search engines, particularly Google. Monitoring these metrics can tell you if your site requires a link-building campaign or help you measure the effectiveness of various online and offline advertising campaigns.

In your log files / site statistics, Look for the graph or chart titled "Referring Domains" and "Referring URLs".

7. Search Engine Referrals

How many of your visitors are coming directly from search engines? What percentage of overall traffic does this represent?

This is a good variable to track to help you keep up with how many search engines are listing your site (both free submission and paid submissions), how much traffic they bring and whether to renew your paid submissions.

It can also tell you whether you need to increase the number of search engines your site is submitted to in order to build on your link popularity. As a a very rough guide, you should be receiving at least 30 percent of your site traffic via search engine referrals.

To see search engine referrals, look for a chart or graph called "Search Engines" within your site statistics.

8. Search Phrases

This topic is related to search engine referrals generally, but gives added insight into what terms you were actually found for in the search engines.

Do these terms match what your site was optimized for? Are there any surprising terms that you might want to develop site content for? Some log file analysis programs will even break down what specific phrases your site was found for in which particular search engines. The more detailed the data you have, the more closely you can tweak your optimization campaign to your precise market.

To see the search phrases your site was found for, look for "Search Phrases" or "Search Phrases by "Search Engine".

9. Landing pages for PCC Campaigns, etc.

If you run a pay-per-click campaign or dedicate specific pages to advertising product specials, you may use special landing pages or tracking ids to monitor your traffic and conversions.

Your site logs can help you track these by showing you how many visitors they each had and what they did after they visited those pages.

10. Metric values that show a radical change from developing trends

Any site metrics that show a dramatic change from one month to the next could pin-point a problem with your site or with your optimization campaign.

For example, if your search engine referrals have dropped dramatically, it could indicate that you have been penalized in a search engine (or more than one). Noticing changing trends early gives you the chance to investigate problem areas and make adjustments if necessary.

Please note that all log file analysis and site statistics programs are different and use slightly different terms to describe the metrics listed above. If you're confused, ask your site admin or hosting provider to highlight these for you.

Remember, your log files are gold mines filled with nuggets of information about your optimized web site. If you keep digging on a regular basis, you'll eventually strike it rich with success.

Part I

If you own or manage a website, you are probably already aware of the importance of your log files or site statistics. Such data can give you insights about your site's usability, errors in your HTML code, the popularity of your site pages and the type of visitors your site attracts.

But did you know it can also highlight the success or failure of your search engine optimization campaign?

There is specific data about your web site that you should be looking at in your log files on a regular basis. Several variables should be examined monthly or even weekly to ensure your site design and page optimization is on the right track:

1. Entry Paths

Most sites can be developed and analyzed around the concept of visitor pathways. If, for example, your site is a Business to Business (B2B) site and you service small, medium and large businesses, there should be pathways through your site designed for each class of visitor. An extremely simplified example would be:

Clients coming to the site through an optimized home page:

home page ---> small business page ---> order page ---> order confirmation page
home page ---> medium business page ---> order page ---> order confirmation page
home page ---> large business page ---> order page ---> order confirmation page

The site entry pages for these pathways are often optimized home pages or optimized content pages.

The final page of this route is often the action that you want clients to take on your site (e.g., sign up for your newsletter, buy your products online or contact you for further information). You can easily determine how effective your pathways are by tracking the entry paths on a regular basis via your site stats.

You should have some idea of the main pathways that clients take through your site, both for monitoring the effectiveness of your page optimization and conversions, and for the purpose of subsequent site redesign(s). A good starting point to track the pathways through your site is via the graph or chart called "Entry Paths" in your log files / site statistics.

2. Top Exit Pages

These are pages from which most visitors click away from your site. Why is it useful to track these? Because exit pages can tell you:

  • If there is a technical problem with the page that is causing visitors to leave your site. For example, if there are broken links, or the form on the page is not working properly etc.
  • If your site design is breaking the strategic pathway, for example, you may have links to external sites that are inducing clients to click away before buying your product or signing up for your newsletter.
  • If there is something on these pages that is encouraging visitors to leave your site. For example, an unprofessional design or confusing layout.

In your log files / site statistics, the graph or chart called "Top Exit Pages" is the place to learn why visitors are leaving your site.

3. Single Access Pages

These are entry pages that are viewed once before the visitor clicks away from your site. Similar to Top Exit Pages, Single Access Pages can tell you a lot about why people are not staying on your site for long.

Have a close look at the search terms used to find your site. Single Access Pages can often indicate that your target search terms are too broad.

For example, you may be getting a lot of traffic by targeting "printer cartridges" but if you only stock a particular brand of cartridge, then people seeking other brands are not going to find what they truly seek when they arrive at your site so they will leave immediately.

This can be resolved by narrowing down your search terms to be more targeted and focused on your niche products and services, for example, by changing "printer cartridges" to "HP printer cartridges" and so on.

To see what pages of your site are viewed once, look for the graph or chart called "Single Access Pages" in your log files / site statistics.

"If you decide to use dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a '?'
character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic
pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the
number of them small."
http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

======================================

If you use dynamic pages and want those pages to be fully indexed in their
entirety, there are a few things that you can do to HELP make this happen.

#1 Keep parameters short. (This means LESS than 3) If you don't know how to
do this, it is something you will have to learn in another setting other
than this group, or it is something you will have to pay someone to do for
you.

#2 You can make use of mod_rewrites to help search engines index the pages
as if they were static pages. You must have access to your .htaccess file
and you need to be using an apache server.

Don't Overuse Dynamic Pages

Dynamic web pages include dynamic content - images, text, etc - which change without the page being reloaded. Client-side languages like JavaScript and ActiveX are usually used to create these types of web pages.

Search engines don't rank dynamic pages with many parameters well. If you choose not to turn your dynamic URLs into static ones, at least put the most important parameters in your URLs first and try to limit dynamic parameters to no more than two.

Spiders can't read the text rendered as graphics. Any text that you want the spiders to read and index should be written out as text. At the very least, put any text that appears in graphics into the images' ALT attribute.

A slightly better alternative is to write your text in Flash, but remember to have a "Skip this intro..." link that takes visitors (and spiders) to the text-rich content of your site. Don't neglect this information if you want to optimize your search engine strategy.

Hello Guys,

A definition and examination of the notion of the mini-net and how
Internet gurus recommend it like Michael Campbell as a way of
improving your SEO.

Mini-net is just a buzz word coined by SEO guru Michael Campbell
(who wrote a book called The Revenge of the Mininet) that means
dynamic linking. Dynamic linking is a skill that is used by
affiliate marketers to improve their search engine optimization and
often cuts the actual time they spend at the computer by fifty
percent.

In essence, creating a mini-net is about creating a network of
tinier sites. These sites are linked together to create a mininet.
The theory is that in terms of SEO the search engines find these
smaller, dynamically linked sites to be more attractive then one
large sprawling site. In a way you are creating an empire of links,
even if those links are only linking back to your own sites. However
the search engine spiders are supposed to be intrigued by these
intricate online webs.

Campbell claims that this approach helps build your credibility with
both the search engines and customers, makes your pages easier to
search and allows you to efficiently employ keywords so that you
attract customers as opposed to surfers to your site. It also
teaches you how to tease individuals into clicking on your links and
cloak your source code to prevent affiliate theft.

However adopting this type of SEO strategy is not for everybody and
it is definitely not for newbies. First of all you have to be savvy
about creating web pages, using an HTML editor and FTP software. You
of course, have to be actively enrolled in an affiliate program and
know how to paste affiliate traffic codes into your web site pages.
This is not rocket science but being even just a little bit
experienced at being a web master or web mistress helps with this.
It is probably helpful to read up a bit on this topic before
deploying it as an SEO strategy as it only takes one or two small
flaws to cause the search engines to ignore your site.

Search Engine Success
Mininet Power
A mininet (aka miniweb or mini-web or mini network) is a small,
specially arranged group of 5 to 10 page minisites that link both to
each other and a main hub website. The purpose of this advanced
mininets strategy is to increase web site link popularity, increase
page rank of the hub web site and drive tons of search engine
traffic. Oh, and of course, the ultimate purpose of the mininet is
to powerfully drive traffic to your hub website so you make lots and
lots of money.

"Mininets are the secret of my Affiliate Marketing success!"
Craig Murray

Each miniweb site within the mininet (mini network) is targeted to
one of the key phrases for which the hub web site is search engine
optimized. For example, lets say the hub web site is
giftsforalloccasions.com. One of the minisites may be focused on the
key phrase 'gift baskets.'

The home page of the minisite would be optimized for the key
phrase 'gift baskets' and have two text links: one to a site map and
one to the hub web site. The site map would contain links to pages
featuring different types of gift baskets, maybe baskets that
contain food, baskets that contain wine, and baskets that contain
books.

Many such miniwebs make up the mininet (mini network). When the mini
network is in place (hosted, coded and online), submit only one of
the minisites to the paid inclusion search engines and the google
free submission. Once the mininet gets into the search engines the
web works its magic. Monitor your web logs, link popularity, key
phrase ranking and page rank.

Keep careful records of the progress of your mininet (mini network).
These records will give you good data to refine your mininet and
help you launch ever more successful mininets.

There are very special considerations that must be observed when
hosting and configuring a mininet. Send Bill Burkey an email for
further detailed information on this powerful mininet strategy.

Mininet are the group of small websites which are strongly connected with each other.

Negative SEO At Work: Buying Cheap Viagra From Google¡¯s Very Own Matt
Cutts - Unless You Prefer Reddit? Or Topix?

For anyone still in doubt about what Negative SEO (aka Black SEO aka
Inverse SEO) can achieve, check out SebastianX¡¯s brilliant stunt in
making Google¡¯s Matt Cutts rank #1 for ¡°buy cheap viagra
algorithmically¡± as outlined in his piece ¡°Buying cheap viagra
algorithmically¡±.

As he rightly points out:

it¡¯s fun to play with the newish turbo indexing. Everybody is happy
to get indexed and ranked in lightning speed, but not so many folks
discuss how it could be used to boost pages linked from timely
contents. Join the game

In a similar vein, Chris Winfield at ¨J 10e20.com ¡ illustrates the
power of social network links after discovering a Reddit page ranking
#2 for the phrase ¡°buy Viagra¡±, vide his ¡°Buy Viagra from Reddit¡±.
(Check the comments section for more interesting evidence.)

Which makes Danny Sullivan only feel sorry for Google (comments
section), pointing out no less than two Topix rankings as well.

So what does this illustrate? Not merely that Googlebowling still
works, but ¨C more importantly ¨C that your competitors could actually
get your sites ranked for totally irrelevant spammy terms, possibly
incurring all kinds of ¡°bad neighborhood¡± penalties. (Not that we¡¯re
particularly worried for Matt Cutts¡¯s blog on this score ¨C but would
you really like to bet the farm on this kind of thing never happening
to you?)

Hyperlink is the reference point for a hypertext. This leads us to
another question, "what is hypertext?". Hyper implies excess and thus
hypertext implies excess content. A hypertext is a super text which can
create another layer of content on the top of the existing content. In
other words a text (hypertext or anchor text) which refers to another
document is of more value than the traditional text.

dzinepankaj

The revisit-after META tag is not supported by any major search
engines, it never was supported and probably never will be. It was
developed for, and supported by, Vancouver Webpages and their local
search engine searchBC.

"searchBC is a search engine for British Columbia. It is fed by the
VWbot_K Robot which confines its activities to sites in the .bc.ca
domain, sites in the .com, .net and .org domains which are listed by
InterNIC as being located in BC, and sites in the .ca domain which
are not part of another Provincial domain.

searchBC is a regional search engine which uses a number of common
tags such as Keywords. Revisit is used as a hint for scheduling
revisits."

<meta name="revisit-after" content="15 days">

The correct syntax for the META revisit-after is shown above and
below. It is specified in the number of days. For example, if you
need to specify an interval of 3 months, the correct syntax would be
specified in days, not months...

<meta name="revisit-after" content="93 days">

The META revisit-after tag is specific to Vancouver Webpages
searchBC. There are no other search engines that we are aware of who
have created a reference lexicon called a profile to support the
revisit-after directive. We've based this statement on years of
metadata research.

WordPress permalinks are yet another opportunity to optimize your site for search engine results. Aside from writing good content, building searchable directory structures is an effective white hat SEO trick. WordPress and Dean Lee's Permalinks Migration plugin make it very easier to implement a category - post structure that will strengthen your page rank case with Google.

For anyone who uses or knows someone who uses one of the built-in permalink structures (default, date and name based or numeric) it is not too late! You can and should consider changing your permalink structure right now. With the help of the Permalinks Migration plugin your old posts will automatically be redirected to the new permalink structure using a "301 Redirect."

Step-by-Step Instructions

Download the Permalinks Migration plugin, unzip/unpack and upload the files to your ~wordpress/plugins directory
Activate the Permalinks Migration plugin in your Wordpress admin console
In your Wordpress admin console go to Options -> PermalinksMigration
Enter your old permalink structure (ex: mysite.com/?p=123) then click "Update options"
Go to Options -> Permalinks, select "Custom" then enter your desired structure, recommended /%category%/%postname%/
Using the recommended custom structure /%category%/%postname%/ your post articles will appear in the following format mysite.com/category/postname. Properly named, your category and post titles are now more items for a search engine to crawl and better position your site on the web.

Please let group know if anyone have good idea about permalinks

Subject: 10 Ways to improve your SEO
dzinepankaj
Offline Offline

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Before, now and in the
future search engines will be the most common tool that we all using
in order to find all kind of information - products, any kind of
multimedia, news, statistics and so forth.

There are many aspects during the design and developing part that I
need to have in my mind to catch some good SEO. Sometime the design
should be changed to pimp up the SEO. The structure of the source
code is absolutely different when you developing a project
considering SEO or not. So in present days SEO is very important part
for the development of every valuable web site.

Here is different aspects of the SEO that you need to have on mind
while developing web project, and Im gonna use Google as a leading
point to describe you what does it like, and what doesn't. Many of
that following points are assignable to most of the big search
engines.

1. Most people using just top ten results from the search engine so
do your best to be somewhere among the first results returned by the
search engine.

2. You need to collaborate with many other sites so that you could
get link exchanges and page transfers - that's the important part of
getting the pagerank - you need affiliates.

3. Your web project should be absolutely friendly for the search
engine crawlers - the main points here are:

think twice what keywords you gonna write as a content of H1, H2, H3,
and so on tags
keywords in the source code
keywords in the web site's content
keywords in the titles of the web site
keywords in the title of the articles and throughout the content
think over what keywords the potential client would write in the
search engine and implement those words in the web content
using of similar words in both meta keywords tag and content text of
the web site
avoid using words that are often encountered in web sites with
pornographic content
avoid flooding the content of the web site with same words all over
so as you can see everything depending of choosing proper keywords -
here is a tool built by yahoo specially fot that purpose.

4. Create a sitemap and upload it to your google account - thus you
can easily present to google the content of your project in details
page by page.

5. Update your site frequently.

6. Don't try to use fake and old flooding technique to improve your
SEO - google already knows that tricks.

7. Maybe I'm gonna disappoint many people with this point, but
Flash/Flex web sites are not friendly for the search engines, unless
there is a well organized html version laying beneath it.

8. Register you web site in dmoz - its a huge well structured
database and one of the main google's sources.

9. You have 7-8 seconds to hold the common user waiting for your site
to open - if your site is opening slower than 8 seconds you need to
speed it up. Unfortunately the speed is agenda for separate article.

10. Choosing your hosting company is important - this, at first
glance insignificant choice, can ruin all of your hardworking if you
choose slow and unstable hosting provider.

So it's a permanent "battle" with search engines for higher pagerank
and better SEO. Considering some of the main points while creating
your project friendly for Search Engines, you will see very soon the
benefits of SEO - high traffic for your web site, which is something
that all of us web designers and developers aim to.
