John posted a picture of a FRUTICOSE lichen called Cladonia
coniocraea.

The pointed parts of the lichen are called PODETIA and at their
summit is a fruiting body with fungal spores.

The podetia seem to grow out of the upper surfaces of the "scale-
like" lichen parts called SQUAMULES.

It is somewhat occasional on decaying/decorticate LOGS in our local
woodlands.

CHECK OUT JOHN'S PICTURE IN THE PHOTO AREA OF THE GROUP!!
