Few trees. Initial purchase parcel was 131 acres; some hundred additional acres of buffer have since been acquired by MCCD. Lake in the Hills Fen (state natural preserve) is adjacent, adding another 300-plus acres. Again, few trees. No dolomite outcrops, but some exposed glacial outwash (gravel, cobbles) that has been colonized by lichens.
Rich Hyerczyk can probably steer us toward more fruitful locations.
(If you want limestone/dolomite bluffs and outcrops I highly recommend Bluff Savanna at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in southern DuPage County, Illinois. Exposed formations overlooking the lower Des Plaines River valley amid high-quality oak barrens, savanna, gallery forest. Yes.)
Happy trails,

Rajsky's natural area doesn't sound too promising for lichens, but it
might be worth a look. How many acres is it? Are there any woods? The
fens could be interesting if there are trees. Any limestone outcrops?
