I think this setting should be the default
for all mailing lists!

I think that Yahoogroups should be able to detect
spam using site-wide sophisticated methods. Even
a non very sophisticated method like not allowing
a new group member to send more than say three
messages to a mailing list or subscribing to
several mailing lists and sending more than a
total of three messages in total should be easy
to implement.

Some forum systems do allow people to subscribe
freely, but will send the first message of the
new subscriber to the list manager for review.

I have the feeling that Yahoo isn't developing
Yahoogroups very actively anymore.
