Me too! Send it on David.
As a (very long) related aside.... last night my school had an authors' night out at a coffee house near our school. It was a Tully's. Starbucks was across the street. Six miles away is the original Starbucks - we are in Seattle, after all. Anyway, stuck with Tully's, I selected three of my third graders to share their writing with the community. Parents, kids, teachers, and befuddled members of the community were elbow to elbow in a cozy atmosphere - really cool. Reminded me of the 60's, without the guitars. So what did my kids read? Articles they had posted on their blogs, of course. Thanksgiving turkey stories... pretend you are a turkey, how will you escape being served for Thanksgiving dinner? Here they are:
If I had gone totally overboard, I would have brought in my laptop, hooked up to the wireless in Tully's, and had them read from the laptop! Never mind. Later. Probably would have done that, except we had to rush off to downtown to hear Subhankar Banerjee, David Allen Sibley, and Terry Tempest Williams - an artic wildlife refuge photographer, a birding god, and a writer whose passion for today's wilderness and the word is unparalleled (her tale about Rwanda will not leave me). Needless to say, it was a very rich evening.
My kids were the highlight, though.
David, let us know if you sometimes frequent Tully's, too :) - Mark

>>> Brune@... 12/08/05 11:47 AM >>>If you are a David Warlick follower you may know he spends a great
deal of time in Starbucks coffee shops. He can get away from the RSS
and the email and have time to write amidst the buzz of coffee goers.
He doesn't like coffee but his relatives gave him a gift. Maybe he
fills up on the iced teas? Those yummy lemon cakes?
So I propose sending him so holiday cheer and adding some $ to his
Starbucks card at https://www.starbucks.com/card/reload.asp
Yes, we could send him some love via the PayPal but I've already done
that and, gee, when I spend at LEAST several hours a day tinkering
with my students' posting, comments, etc., etc. I figure I can send
him a little something else.
But we just need the card number, Dave! Cough it up!
