OK, I just started playing with my old Commodore 128. Along with it I
have both 1581 and 1541 drives. When I was still using the CBM machines
I put a switch on the 1581 so that it could be either drive U8 or U9.
The 1581 utilities disk has a 'change unit' program to change the drive
# in software, does anyone know whether the 1541 has a jumper or a
location that can be cut and switched like I did on the 1581 to make it
either drive? I created a startup disk that has the program that does
that and I added a line that changes the F8 key to do a directory of the
U9 device, but I would like to have a switch. If you anyone knows the
answer it would save me opening the drive unnecessarily. I will of
course have to read the drive manual too, you know, if all eels fails,
that's what you do. :-)
