Letter is the American standard "8 1/2 inches * 11
inches (archaic)" isn't it? If all you want is one
letter, why not cut down from
the-international-standard-that-the-whole-of-the-world-except-America
uses, which is A4, and save yourself some grief?

... 8.5 * 2.54 = ~21.6cm 11* 2.54 = ~28cm Therefore Letter = 21.6cm x 29.7cm, but A4 = 21cm x 29.7cm You could cut B4 down though, but even so cut to size...

A4, etc. is also based on the golden section (http://photonotes.org/cgi-bin/entry.pl?id=Goldensection) which is ususally of some importance to design bods. ...
