I've about had it with my DoCoMo D902i. The other day while walking
home it managed to make 3 phone calls (one to the US) and change its
entire design template all by itself. It was in my pocket and
apparently the key lock came undone. No more Mitsubishi phones for me.
I've learned my lesson.

Now that we have number portability I have a few more options.
Personally the entire DoCoMo FOMA line bores me. AU has a great
reputation for customer satisfaction and few connectivity issues it
seems, but their phones aren't much more sexy than the DoCoMo crop. I
did like the look of some of the new SoftBank phones, but they have
the terrible reputation carried over from the JPhone/Vodaphone days
for poor connectivity.

How's your experience? What carrier and what phones are the best for
the gaijin otaku crowd? Any recommendations?
