Hi all,
I have read that you can use CD key for Japanese OS version together with
install disks for English OS version. I desperately want to try that out.
Can anyone lend or make a copy, without the key?
Please, I do not want any dodgy versions. Only copy of a totally legit install
disk.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
BTW, I do not check this e-mail address frequently, and I would love to lay my
hands on a copy urgently, so please contact me directly by using this URL:

Cheers!

Hi All,
Well after 12 years, I decided its time for me to mozy on along to a new local.
I'm gonna be heading over to singapore to live for a few years I figure.
>> Know someone reliable who needs a furnished apartment in Osaka?
With the move, I'll be leaving my apartment- and am not looking forward to
dumping all my stuff, and not having a bed etc before i move... I am looking for
someone to take over the apartment, furnished.
The apartment is in Nakatsu, which is very close to umeda- you can walk to
chayamachi in like 10 minutes. Theres a hankyu and midosuji station very close,
or you can walk about 20 minutes to JR Umeda.
Has a queen size bed, fridge, washing machine, couch, TV, lights, aircon, stove,
etc, and a good size for a single person. rent is about 52,000 a month, but
you'd need to talk to the landlord about that + hoshonin etc... The landlord has
been good to me, and I would only want to refer a reliable person to her.
My visa runs out the end of Oct, so I gotta go by then, but can leave before if
you need to come in sooner, like september or october. I just need to get a
ticket to singapore and cancel my utilities.
If you are interested send me an email - davidm1@....
Thanks,
David

More and more governments around the world are starting to push for the
use of Open Source software
example: UK government backs open source
<http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7910110.stm> by the BBC
With the worldwide economic recession, companies might look towards
saving on their IT budgets and Open Source might be a way to safe money.
Open Office <http://www.openoffice.org//> is now mature enough to be
an serious alternative option to replace MS Office. Firefox
<http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/> is slowly gaining market share
as the prefered web browser. Some enterprises have committed to wide
Linux deployment, such as automaker Peugeot Citron's plans to
install 20,000 Novell Suse Linux desktops. Many other companies leave
Linux to the engineering and development staff or only for server
solutions.
Are there any Click members that are working with Open Source, or
promoting Open Source solutions?
What is the status of Open Source within Japan
Looking forward to some interesting feedback.

Re: Click Community site http://salsakitchen-kobe.com/click/
<http://salsakitchen-kobe.com/click/>
Hi Clickers,
We have this wonderful group of IT brains here in Kansai and I think we
have a lot of potential, if we organize ourselves well. This mailing
list is not very active at the moment, so there is room for improvement.
We are in a unique position. Most of us are bilingual and have an
international background. We can provide services that many Japanese
would not be able to provide and there is a high demand for our
services.
Recession
Everybody is talking about it. Recession, Repression, we hear it so
often it almost makes us depressed. IT provides wonderful opportunity,
since we can make things work more efficiently through automation and
through information processing.
Who knows Klick!
But who knows Klick? Who can find us when they need us?
Organize
I think we should put together a portal with the following
functionality.
* Click! Members register and post their resumes and experience
* Web links to Click! Member websites and Blogs
* Opinion Polls
* Forum to discuss IT issues.
* Calendar to post IT events and Click Meetings
* News section where members can post Interesting developments
* Outsiders can post IT requests and job requests.
Test Site
I have put up a mockup
http://salsakitchen-kobe.com/click/
<http://salsakitchen-kobe.com/click/>
It is a Joomla portal, we could host it under click-IT-kansai.com. With
a bit of activity from our side, we could climb up in the search engines
which will benefit our community and our members.
I invite all members to have a look and click on the poll at the site.
You can sign up and put your profile.
If there is some interest and if I have permission from David, I can put
the site live.
Looking forward to your response.
Best Regards,
Marco

I'm up in Tokyo now but am always looking for an excuse to come down

That's a relief - I thought nobody liked me anymore :-)
LinkedIn is on my list of things to do today. Thanks for the tip.
[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
That's really odd. I didn't get a notification for that poll at all.
This is the first I've seen it. Maybe there's a permissions setting
back here that I'm not aware of. Sorry that neither Dave nor I have
had time to put anything together lately.
You may want to cross-post this sort of information over in our
LinkedIn Group as well.
http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1045
There are several members over there who aren't members of this
group. That may give you a few more eyeballs. For example, if you
post a new poll then make a thread about it here and on LinkedIn and
link directly to the poll from there.
Good luck on the job search! I'll keep you in mind if I see any
openings.

It looks like Feb. wasn't good for people (did people actually get a
notification about the Poll?), so try again later. Always up for a
Friday drink, though, if you're going out.

On a more serious note, my job is going to fall victim of the current
crisis at the end of the month (we had the double whammy of being an
export company dealing with the high yen), and so I am looking for a
new programming position. Full-time is nice, but I am considering
doing freelance/contract based for the next year while everyone rides

a few years before switching to web development in LAMP several years

Igniter/jquery/AJAX/Wordpress (you know, Web 2.0 :-) ).
I appreciate any leads any of you might have.

Hi CLICK!ers
Going off the original topic, but I recently modified the top page of
www.japanevents.net to make easier to filter events in different parts of Japan
and also created a page specifically for Kansai:
http://www.japanevents.net/kansai.html. There are not many events outside Tokyo
and non in Kansai at the moment but if you are hosting events and think it would
help with promo you can submit events at www.japanevents.net/submit.html.
The RSS and iCal feeds also reflect any of the calendar filters selected on the
top page.
I welcome any suggestions or requests and can also create a prominent link to
CLICK! if that would be useful.

Consider this as an informal get together.
April 13, 1:00PM, Morinomiya Station (subway & JR), Exit 3-B, BYO
Do you miss the festivities of the Banks of Mukogawa? How about
Nakanoshima Festival?
Where is the Spring "gathering" event?
Many groups in the Kansai are coming together for friends, family,
and children to enjoy the cherry blossom season.
A "first annual picnic event" in Osaka Castle Park. Should be an
enjoyable afternoon!
Pertaining to the April 13 event. Could you tell me a little bit more?
>
>1) How often has this event been occurring?
first time! But I'm hoping it becomes a yearly group-networking
event every April.
>2) Which group is organizing it?
DAJK, officially (but its basically a one-man show!) Among the
groups joining so far are DAJK, Amnesty Int'l 95, Int'l Outdoor Club,
In'l Gourmet Club, St. David's Society, St. George's Society, AFWJ,
and many others are currently under consideration.
>3) Since it is a big group, will permits be needed?
not sure how big the group will get, but permits?...... we don't need
" " permits! (or do we?) Since this is not a Nakanoshima type
event, without booths & bands, just a group of friends having a
picnic, I think it will be OK.
>4) Late arrivals need to go where?
follow the chalk signs, and look for the noisy gaijins!
>5) Event cancelled if it rains?
No, since this is a BYO picnic event, its up to each individual to
decide whether to come & what to bring.
>6) web page available?
No (but I like the wishful thinking!!)
>7) BBQ ?
No, technically it's being promoted as a Picnic, since I think fires
aren't allowed in Osaka-jo. But they also tend to look the other way
during hanami season. anyway, I won't be providing anything to cook
with. stores are near Morinomiya station, and if someone fires up a
hibachi, that's their business!
>8) Drinks?
Yes, definitely! again, this is BYO, so nothing will be prepared and
there will be no food/drink booths other than the Japanese yatai that
may already be there selling in the park.
>9) Children?
Yes! also Dogs, frisbees, musical instruments.......and single women!!
>10) Meeting time and place?
Morinomiya Station, Exit 3-B. See maps below 13:00PM
[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Do any of you do VB freelancing? We have an app that
needs some relatively straightforward modification.
Here is a snippet from our wiki about it.....
Compilation requires VB 6.0 and MS WinHTTP Services 5.1
(installed by default on most Windows platforms). The |setup.exe|
installer can be generated by using the Distribution Wizard, which is a
separate program found in Visual Basic 6.0 Tools program group.
I expect most of the work will be to setup a build and
test environment rather than coding.
Dennis,
That looks like a good excuse to get together. Lets add CLICK
to the roster and join them. Could you put together some more
information about the event and post it here?

Thank you Andrew,
Transfer between and combine mail into the same mail folder, I hope.
Being required to have two weeks worth of email in a separate folder,
and not able to combine it, is irresponsible of any company that
deals with email.
