This is an out-of-season bloom on a clivia that originated from the fine plant breeding efforts at Clivia Classiques Nursery in Australia. I was a guest there last year. Their breeding was between "A-13" (an Australian clone) and "Sunset" an F3 peach from previous South African clivia breedings. I contributed an article to the North American Clivia Society's Q1 2009 newsletter on the visit to several Australian nurseries. What's very interesting with this clivia is that with each day the oldest floret seems to be gaining another coloration besides the background yellow/green. I can't define it---not yellow, not orange, not peach, more of a "peachy-cream" developing towards the tepal fringes within the yellow/green tones. I wonder if others have seen this delayed color effect before? I intend to keep a record of the changes as the florets mature.
