In Dr. Dobbs, (http://www.ddj.com/web-development/211201818) Jake Sorofman has
an article about the Cloud Computing Maturity Model,
loosely (very loosely) modeled after the Capability Maturity Model.

He makes the first step "Virtualization."

Why? What is with this confusion of virtualization with cloud
computing? *Everybody* seems to be doing it except me, and
(presumably) thee. (And I'm not so sure about thee.)

And why should that be the first step?

Anybody have a clue?
