I'm trying to do a digital transfer without any loss between a Laser
Disc and my digital sound card using the optical connections.

But a find random diferences between consecutive transfers of the
same track that meke me think that something it's wrong.

Anybody can confirm if its possible a perfect digital transfer or
i'm trying to do something impossible?

   Folks,

I've just changed group settings for this Yahoo group so postings from
newly joined members will now have to be seen by me first. This won't
affect postings from any of you lot, but it should give me a chance to
remove some of the offending spam nonsense before they hit everyone's
mailbox. I can't really guarantee to be 100% successful at doing this,
so if this trash really concerns you, please think about installing
filtering software or taking alternative protection measures.

This YahooGroup does not allow attachments, hence all of you weren't
given the opportunity to run something which could have been dangerous
to your system. Remember, Microsoft as stated policy, does not send
out patches unsolicited in this way. Go to Windows Update and do these
things properly!! (or think about changing to Linux...)

Well both cards are same, on is PCI (onboard) and the other is ISA but same
chipset so the same drivers are used. Becouse the resources are choosen
Plug'n'Play it goes like this.

Win talk to first one, see what it needs, and give resources ... cm8330 card
will use blablabla and than goes to the other card and see a twin, Oh cm8330
that's sound familiar .. let me see.. h go on that IRQ

So both cards act like one. I only see one in my control panel but have two same
outpus on the cards:(

It's impossible to fix the settings on the two cards so they will not
reconfigure!!! and make them use different resources.

This is not really an answer to your question, but an FYI...

My two 8738 based cards worked with the drivers, I don't know whether
they worked properly or not because I was trying to disconnect one of
them.

I have two slightly different 8738 based cards. On the motherboard it
is a generic 8738 type and on the soundcard it is the 6ch MX based
card with digital ins and outs (coax and toslink). Firstly I had to
find a way of disconnecting my motherboard based sound card (this was
the only way the drivers would recognise the spdif capability of the
card). This was done with the manual for the motherboard. At first I
looked into the BIOS settings - no luck; then I looked into the manual
and found a way to disconnect - literally via a 'jumper' on the
motherboard. I made sure no drivers were installed for any of the
sound cards first before I disconnected (or reconnected it, depending
on how you look at it) - the jumper (I dunno if this helped but it
seemed to make sense at the time). Once I did this it was a matter of
finding good drivers, and reinstalling them, the ones supplied with
the card crashed after using spdif and so I was forced to look
elsewhere for good drivers - Zoltrix ones worked best.

And whah lah, I got a digital uploading sound card perfect for
minidisc - yay...

I still am amazed the darn thing works...

Dear Forum Members,

I did some more research on this card and also called the
manufacturer (Jetway), and found that according to their
technical support, the assembly house made a "boo-boo"
resulting in the wrong chip being put onm the board for
this product, resulting in NO digital In or Out function.
The chip in mention is the -SX version.

Sorry about this bad news.

The strange thing is that the product box artwork claims
that this board had SPDIF, the docs claim it, the CD claims it,
the board has the SPDIF-OUT connector has it, etc...

Total bummer! (or should I say "boo-boo" ??)

At lest thest things are cheap, and I know what to buy next time.

Oh - one more thing...the manufacturer says that despite everything
you are on your own and there is nothing that they will do to
fix you up with what you really did buy, which is a card with
Digital Audio connectivity.

Cheers!

Nick

Sorry if this has already been covered to death here on the forum. I
just found this forum, and joined a few minutes ago.

I am looking for drivers for a 738S1 card (8738 based) for
Windows2000.

On the web, folks have said that it is best to use the MidiMan
drivers, but it is not clear to me regarding which ones to use.

They say that the MidiMan drivers bypass some of the junk that I
don't need, such as the HRTF and volume functions, etc...

The ONLY thing that I plan on using this card for is the DIGITAL COAX
OUT, running at 44.1.

Purely as a digital output, and nothing more.

My plan is to use a PC as a sound source, and then record digitally
into another system that has a digital audio input.

I am sure that this has been covered, so please point me to a link
for the info that I seek.

Thanks!

I have onboard pci pnp card and a "new" one that i found recently isa
(audioexcel). Both are 8330 and both work fine when they are alone.
When the both are present the WIn do no recognise it as two cards and
do not instal another "copy" of the drivers. So they use the same
irqs dmas etc and act like on sound card. Both are jumperless.

When I play a file both are playing the same output...!!

I need two diferent SB devices for DJ mixing. Is there a chance to
make this nappend with two 8330 cards.

It works with the on board card and als400 pci card.

Recently buy a Zoltrix Nightingale Pro 6 and find that the digital
recording is distorted in 16-bit, 24-bit and in 44.1kHz and 48kHz
sample rates.

The most worst case is in 24-bit 48kHz, in every 0.01 second, a
sample is either going to most positive or negative.

I perform the test using CoolEdit Pro 2.0 by generating a 1kHz sine
wave in different bit depth and sampling rates and record by another
instance of CoolEdit. The sound card's coaxial or optical
interface's output and input are inter-connected. FFT analysis is
performed on the record signal and find many suspicurs tones with
amplitude up to -90dB.

For the format 16-bit, 44.1kHz, it is burnt into a CDRW and play
through a CD-ROM drive, the result is same.

Initially, I suspect it is the hardware problem. But I find that the
Windows98 driver 4.06.1084 works correctly. The latest driver 639
doesn't solve the problem.

My motherboard has onboard sound with cmedia CM8738-6CH-MX chipset,
it works perfectly (But it is damaged by me). Of course it is
disable it BIOS during the test.

I have tried in another computer, the result is same.

Since I need to make recording frequently, I'm now forced to work in
Win98.

I've sent the email to Zoltrix but no reply.

What's wrong with the card or the driver. How could I make it work
in Windows 2000 ? Any suggestions ? Thanks.

i just read that Yahoo is going to be cleaning up their Groups by getting read
of all of the groups that have anything to do with porn, sex, dating, or
anything that "they" think is offensive. what the hell?

there IS a place that everybody is going to though so that we all still exchange
emails, chat, and send pics. everybody from Yahoo seems to be going there, so
it's cool.

it's free, and the link is, http://www.TheSexClub.hotfire.net

Have Fun.

Hi,

SV_RFID (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sv_rfid/)
is a Yahoo group that aims to gather together those
who have common interest in RFID, not only as just
a technology but also as a huge business
opportunity.

A quote from Forrester Research says,

"This technology (RFID) could radically change
the relationship between the customer and the
product. Fast forward 10 years, and it could
change the paradigm of what retailing is all
about."

For a quick tour of how this technology
may affect your life please go to,

http://www.autoidcenter.org/aboutthetech_idiotsguide.asp

SV_RFID hopes to provide an environment where
members can communicate and share their passions,
visions, thoughts, concerns about RFID technology
as well as its business opportunities.

More specifically from technology perspective we
encourage discussions regarding tags, readers,
software infrastructure, database, datamining etc.
From business applications perspective we may
cover topics in SCM, ERP, EAI, middleware,
logistics, retail, manufacturing, homeland
security, medical devices, airlines, automotive,
government, etc. We would also like to discuss
issues regarding privacy, security and standards.

Our members include executives, professors, VCs,
engineers, lawyers, business analysts, university
students, etc.

We cordially invite you to join us!
