Dear COBOL Users,

Articles are being sought for the COBOL User Groups (COBUG) newsletters.

Will you help us in our efforts to provide newsletters for the COBOL
community at large?

The COBUG newsletters will be an independent place to exchange
information on any topic related to COBOL. This is an opportunity for
you to share your ideas, opinions, and experiences with the COBOL
community. This is also an opportunity for you to provide information
about yourself, as well as your business, services, products,
publications, websites, etc. Thousands of COBOL programmers, software
developers, IT managers, and consultants will read your article.

All are welcome to participate in submitting articles. Here are some
ideas on articles that may be of interest and useful to the COBOL
community:

* Implementation of technologies such as Service
Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services,
Java, .Net, XML, etc.

* COBOL migration techniques and issues.

* Innovative methods to maintain and develop
COBOL applications.

* Useful COBOL tips, tricks, and design techniques.

* Opinions on the state of COBOL and its future.

* Discussions about the outlook for COBOL jobs,
training, and workforce.

* Reviews of COBOL books and products.

* Discussions about COBOL standards.

* Information on related legacy technologies such as
transaction processing, databases, graphical user
interfaces (GUI), sorts, file conversions, report
generators, communication networks, etc.

* Legal, regulatory, and security requirements
for COBOL application systems.

If you have other ideas that you feel would be useful to the COBOL
community and would like to contribute to the COBUG newsletters,
please submit them.

Submit articles or questions to COBUG at "myContribution@...".
Please submit articles by November 6, 2006.

If you are planning on submitting an article for the COBUG
newsletters, please let us know of your intent in advance to
submitting your article.

Thank you for your time and attention. We look forward to your
contributions.

Sincerely,

Thomas Perry
