I have recently obtained the Cokin Mirage 220 . However, I was not
given any directions or list of attatchments to make any kind of use of
it. I have the required adapter rings and holders for regular
filters. I also have one Modular Hood 255. where can I find
instructions to properly assemble for use? RCM
My best bet would be looking at Olympus Website and search for your model
accessories. Most camera stores do not carry these because they don't sell many
of these.

hello,
I am new to Cokin and I am planning to play with some of their filters. First of
all I want to buy a Nd4 gradual, a nd8 gradual (later) ...but there are a few
circular polarizers and i do not know how to choose, except for the gray one
which I know how it works. I also want to know which you think are the best 5
filters to have from Cokin for landscape photography.Taking in mind I would like
to shoot under 20mm(which is the limit for P system), has anyone tested the
P-system with let;s say a Sigma 10-20 at 10mm or 12mm on a APS-C camera ?!
Thank you,
Dorian

First you need to find out what the threaded diameter of the lens is. The focal
length range you referenced has nothing to do with the lens threaded diameter.
Another trick about low end digital cameras is that most of the lens project out
when you turn the camera on so you need an adapter (like a tube). This adapter
extends beyond the lens so when the camera is turned on, the lens does not hit
your filter which is mounted on the tube.
Your camera manual should say something about how to use filters and the adapter
(optional equipment).
Good luck.

All the ND filters do is cut the amount of light reaching the lens.
Depending on the filter(s) and how they stack, it will cut the light
by one, two or more stops. It doesnt modify the color of the light in
any way, nor will it alter haze in any way. For those you need a UV
(no stop loss) or a polarizer (2 stop loss).

I am thinking about starting with the Cokin system.
My question is. With a gray filter the NEUTRAL DENSITY filters
152
153
154
156
Will a sky with clouds and blue parts filter away the white haze from
the the sky or do I need a polarizer for that like 164?
Thanks for reading and answering.
Some of these landscape photographers swear by this one, yet nobody
offers more than a couple sentences explaining how to use it.
I find that if used by itself part of the image gets a (usually
undesirable) magenta tint. Using a circular polarizer I can remove the
tint (while leaving the blue effect alone) in the viewfinder. Yet to my
surprise, when I look at the captured image on screen, the magenta is
still there! I'm really puzzled as how the optical viewfinder can be
inconsistent with the sensor.
Anyone can shed some light?
I've got a Moskva V (Soviet clone of the Super Ikonta) that doesn't
have any threads on the outside or inside surface of the lens mount.
How do I stick a Cokin adapter on this? Is there a Universal mount for
each series, and can someone point me to a part number and image of this?
To use that A filter on a 67mm lens would be very close. If that lens is a wide
angle or semi wide angle, say in the 18-24MM range, you could get some
vignetting of the photo edges.

Hi Greg,
I use P series filters. However I've got a couple of lenses which
really need the Z's. What I did was focus, compose and then I taped
the filter over the lens. Later I cropped it down and this worked OK.
I should mention that I shoot in medium format so my negative is 6 cm
sq. This is a lot of real estate so some cropping is no big deal.

I have a Cokin Flash which is need of repair. The casing which fits
into the filter adaptor is damaged/broken. Does anyone know where I can
send it to have it repaired. I am in England but am prepared to send it
abroad for the repair. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

Recently I get my first DSLR a Sony Alpha 100, and was reading
inOutdoor Photographer that is posible embed your name into the
metadata files of the Camara so this way people will know what files
are my property.
I konw that in Canon and Nikon is posible, somebody knows if in the
Alpha 100 is posible?

Definately the P system. You might want to look at their Z pro sizes too.
I would not even mess with the A size.

Hi Tim-I have a few "non-Cokin" square filters I've tried. from England I
think. I honestly
couldn't tell any difference in the final photos. The only problem was they were
a little thicker
than the Cokin ones and it was a bit of a struggle sliding them into and out of
the holder.

Hi, have just bought an SLR with 62mm diameter lens...could anyone tell me
whether I
should go for the 'A' or 'P' cokin filter system?? Advice from your experiences
appreciated,
Thanks.
I want to get a P series adapter and some adapter rings to fit my
various lenses. There are a bunch of knock-offs on ebay but I'm
wondering if they are any good or should I stay with authentic Cokin
items.
Thanks,
Tim
Just to let everyone know-there is a seller on Ebay selling the Cokin Series A
"Kits" at a great
price for brand new filters. The kits are theme based-such as "Still Life",
"Close Up",
"impressionism" etc. There are 4 filters in each set for $6.95 plus shipping.
I've bought
several of these- I'm not related to the seller-just passing along a pretty good
deal.
See http://stores.ebay.com/Samys-Camera
the sellers ID is samyscamerainc

Hi everyone, does anyone have any pics taken with the sunset198,
tobacco125 combination? I'd like to see the effects of this and any
other combinations with the sunset198. Has anyone tried any grad flou
blue667 combinations? Thanks all, Michael J.
Anyone out there have some new Cokin filter pictures to post? I love looking at
the
interesting uses of the filters-they can be inspiring. I just posted a few of
mine for viewing.
Also does anyone have a favorite filter-or combination of filters they like
using?
Thanks, Steve
Hello all, I read that the best effect with star filters is achieved
against a dark background (night in my case) and with a relatively
short exposure. Anybody know what "short exposure" would designate in
this case? Also, do "stars" have an optimal f-stop? I'm trying to make
a recipe book so I'll know what to "feed" my filters. I know, bad
humor, oh well. Thanks to anyone with info on this. And in a few
hours, Merry Christmas to all!!! Happy holidays, Michael J.
Hello everyone, At this time, about all I can afford processing-wise
is the local CVS photo-lab. It seems I read somewhere that
computerized developers will negate the expected filter effects,
thereby rendering your filter work useless. Is anyone out there
knowledgable on this subject? The guy at CVS 1-hour photo said there
was nothing to worry about when using filters, but I think I would
trust what you guys and gals have to say more. Thank you, Michael J.
Hello all, I'm new in this group, so nice to meet you all. Just
started using Cokin filters; using is the wrong word, because I've
been chicken to try them yet! I've read in Cokin literature vague
references to f stop settings when using certain filters. Is there a
comprehensive list or reference for using correct f stop and/or speed
settings for different filters in different light conditions (flash
included)? I know this is a tall order, but if something like this
doesn't already exist, maybe it's time something like this was put
together. What do you guys and gals think? Almost forgot, I'm talking
TTL, but manual's fine with with me too. Glad to be a new member.
Best holiday wishes, Michael J.
P.S. Or is it all about creativity?
