Can anyone recommend the proper adapter and holder for this lens? It is 52
mm in diameter. When adjusting the zoom the ring threads retract beneath the
barrel . I have had problems with using a circular polarizer because it's
diameter interfere with the movement of the lens . Does Cokin or any other
manufacturer have a solution or do you have to use a holder that affixes
over the barrel?

I have a large number of Cokin filters that I no longer use. If anyone
is interested in purchasing them -- contact:

This is a premium account so it will not be affected by the change...for now
All you need is to get a 62mm ring and get the stepdown ring from 62 to 58mm.
Have fun,
Ninh

I have just purchased a Minolta D-90 with two lenses - a Nikon 55 - 200 mm
F/4-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX zoom and a Sigma 18-50mm F/3.5-5.6 DC HSM with motor. I
have a large collection of Cokin filters that I had used in the past with a
Minolta SLR. This was an "A" system. It appears that the only change I will
need to make to use this system with my new Minolta is the purchase of a 52mm
adapter ring. However, I am concerned with the possibility of viginetting with
the "A" system. Will the graduated filters I have fit in the "P" or other
holders? Will this system work with my zoom lenses? Any and all suggestions or
helpful hints will be appreciated. John
Anyone know of an "effective" UV filter for the P-system? The Cokin UV filter
only absorbs 1/10 of a stop in the UV band. Circular filters like the Tiffen
Haze-1 absorb 5 stops. I see Singh-Ray makes a Hi-Lux which they say absorbs UV
but they give no specs and do not answer questions on it so I gather it doesn't
do the job.
Thanks,
Hi Jack,
The P-series filters are 84mm. The A-series filters are 67mm. A-series filters
don't work past a 62mm lens diameter, so if you've got a wide-angle lens or
something like a Canon L-series zoom the A-series simply won't fit.
Mike

Newbie here.
Can anyone simply explain to me the difference between 'A' Series
Holders & 'P' Series Holders.
I have a mixture of lense for numerous cameras but with only two lens
thread diameters; namely 52mm & 55mm. I have adaptor rings for both &
a holder. but I have no idea whether it is an 'A' or a 'P'. There's
no indication on the holder. How do you tell the difference? And why
does the intro on this site recommend using a 'P' Series?
Regards,
Jack

Hi all,
No, I'm not trying to make anyone jealous. I'm luck to be going. Fly into Rome,
then onto
San Benedetto. 3 days there then back to Rome for 3 night. And Yes, I'm
excited. I was
there when I was 14, that was ..... holy crap, that's 31 years ago. (I've got
the white hairs
to prove it.)
So, I JUST got this filter system for my Nikon D300. In fact I barely know how
to use my
D300 also. I've only had it about 1 month.
Yikes! OK, I need any tips on using these filters. I've done a lot of reading,
but
unfortunately the weather has been crappy here, so no chance to practice.
Here's what I have:
P230 Sky Neutral
P153 Neutral Grey .6
P154 Neutral Grey .9
P164 Circular Polarizer
and a screw on UV filter for each of my lens. I also have the bellows hood.
I have the Nikkor 18-55
http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/lens/af/dx/af-s_dx_zoom18-
55mmf_35-56g_ed_2/index.htm
and the Nikkor 70-300
http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/lens/af/zoom/af-s_vr_zoom70-
300mmf_45-56g_if/index.htm
Tips anyone?
I DID shoot from my back patio and noticed a problem w/ the 18-55 lens and the
bellows
hood. It showed the hood TOTALLY in frame. SO? I have to stick w/ my 70-300, or
should
I just leave the hood off?
I want to shoot some nice sunrises. San Benedetto is on the eastern coast so
.... a total no
brainer there. But, like any tourist, I need to shoot great shots of landmarks
etc.
Thanks for any tips,
dan
I bought a Cokin parallel filter from ebay and i can't seem to get it
to work.
I'm trying to figure out if im being stupid or if its a duff one!
Can someone help...is there some trick to using it?
Thanks, Vicky
I have been unable to figure out how to correctly use the cokin pre-
shaped frames. How do they fit in the holder and what holder do you
use. I am using a Cannon Rebel DSLR.
Thanks for any tips you have.
Thanks
BG
I use a Cokin A system. One filter that I have is a STAR 16. It has
picked up a haze on it that will not clean off. I have attemted to
clean it with photographic lens cleaner using lens cleaner tissue and
it will not come off. It does show up in my photographs if I use it --
so I do not use it.
Does anyone have a suggestion for removing this haze?
I was attracted to the cokin sytem since I like to make landscapes and HDR's. I
read a lot of
information but there's one thing not clear: I use a Sigma 10-20 mm lens with a
77 mm filter
diameter. Would the cokin P holder fit? My question is because I saw a diagram
of a cokin P
holder where the inner diameter is only 73 mm. Or would I have to get the Pro or
other
sytems? Thank you and regards, Bo
Hi there all,
I've just tried a quick search for info on the sfx filter (nearly
infra red) and I was wondering what the filter factor or number of f
stops I need to twiddle?
thanks
I'm still here lurking about.
I check in all of the time.
Digital hasn't quite killed off everything. 8^)
A negative point for digital is that larger prints are
impossible at home, shop giclees are way too
expensive, and nothing compares to large print silver
emulsion.
I used cokin all of the time once, but less now that
it is getting harder to find good labs.
Anyone still have a good custom lab for slides?
I have recently obtained the Cokin Mirage 220 . However, I was not
given any directions or list of attatchments to make any kind of use of
it. I have the required adapter rings and holders for regular
filters. I also have one Modular Hood 255. where can I find
instructions to properly assemble for use? RCM
