This problem just started. Up to 4 days ago, I wasn't having the problem. I have
tried rebooting the computer and the printer, removing and reinserting the key
and removing and reinserting the paper into the printer. No matter what I do,
the error "Paper Out" on the printer shows up every time I send something to
print. I also use this same RIP to send jobs to another printer and everything
works great with it, there are no problems. I know it's got to be something
simple, but I can't figure it out and I have jobs I need to print HELP!!!!
sounds like a mismatch in the IP settings and the printer actual...
I would be sure all jobs are cancelled, then go through each setting one by
one... I usually find that I had some little one (like sheet instead of roll or
cut checked) clicked by accident when I've had issues like this.
As far as I know , there is no way to just reset everything to default on both
the printer and software, so you have to go through them all.
good luck

Try using a different roll or sheet of paper. I have had this problem and for
some reason the media was corrupting the system.

I tried this, but it didn't work. To make sure it wasn't the printer, I printed
direct from another software and it printed with no problems, so it must be
ImagePrint. By the way, I was wrong about the software version, it's 5.6 not 7.
I really don't want to delete the printer and reinstall it into ImagePrint
because I don't have the encryption code. Got any other ideas?

I did as you suggested, but I still have the problem. I use this same software to print to another printer and have no problems at all. I also sent a photo from another software to the Epson and it printed fine without any error. So the problem has to be with ImagePrint. I even tried changing the paper definition to something else, but that didn't work. I really don't want to have to delete the printer and then reload it again because I don't have the encryption code. Can you think of anything else, I am getting despirate!!!

ImagePrint has been very kind to me when I've misplaced the encryption code and needed their help. Just give them a call. You may need to prove you are the registered owner/user of the software and I'm sure at some point you will need the dongle.
When I've had the kind of problem you've described, it usually has been my failure to be sure the printer settings (on the front panel of the printer) match the settings in the Epson print driver and the ImagePrint printer settings that are accessed through the icons on the lower right corner of the ImagePrint screen.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but you may want to turn off the printer for a few minutes and then restart it. I'd unplug it to be sure it gets a hard re-boot.

Wendy-
I think you can just go to the Colorbyte web site and get a new encryption by
entering your registered email address and the dongle number.

I just got a new mac... came with osX 10.6 (software update to 10.6.1). Did the
migration assistant to the new mac via firewire400-800 cable. Everything
transferred. Went into IP setup and I get an error when trying to enable the
printer:
Couldn't connect socket in ip_config
Anyone have a fix?
Image print is one of the few image apps that worked well for me on snow
leopard.
The socket problem is easily fixed. In the image print folder there is an app
called
SOCKETFIX.DMG
run that and you will be fine.
cheers,

All of us have had the same problem. You may find using the socket fix applet works for you. When I contacted Colorbyte, they suggested the following:
1) Move your ICC profiles folder to a safe location on your HD.
2) Download the most current version of IP7 or 8 from the ImagePrint website.
3) Uninstall your current version of IP and dump your trash folder.
4) Reinstall a current version from the IP website.
5) Move your ICC profiles into the new folder with the same name that you created during the reinstallation.
While this may seem like a PITA, it is actually fairly quick and painless--far less of a pain than some of my other challenges upgrading drivers to work with Snow Leopard.
Good luck,
Rich H.

I am printing on a 9800 and running 10 inch wide roll paper through the printer. Need to make 100 8x10 prints. So I figured I would run 10 inch paper roll and turn double cut on. Well IP6.XX advances the paper 3 inches between each print, starts printing, trims leading edge off the 3 inches it advanced and then continues the remaining 8 inches of printing. Cuts to size correctly. But that is 300 inches of wasted paper i just ran. How do I fix that?
You didn't describe the settings you are using. If you are printing borderless, that would explain the waste.

I've spent way more time than I should trying to read the help PDF.
I know it's got to be a simple setting.
I'll double all my cuts if I have to slice 100 4x6's.
Any idea how to have them line up without a space when mass-dragging over?
thanks in advance!
Do it as standard flat print and find printhouse with big cut machine

Snap to grid? What happens if you have
the snap to grid function on? I am a few version back, but I'd start with that.
I don't recall seeing your printer size?

IP was one of the few apps that worked well for me in SL.
I had to revert to Leo due to inability to save work consistently in photoshop.
This is a known (but somewhat rare happenstance) and does not seem to be fixed
for those of us who had the problem, even with 10.6.2.

Jim. I notice your question about Snow Leopard and IP7. My experience has been
the smoothest transition of the past 3 versions and the upgrades in-between. I
have an Epson 4800 and a HP Designjet 90 and had an Epson 4000. The two printers
I presently use work so well with IP7 that I don't even have Epson or HP print
drivers installed.
I am a convert from the PC world and thought the Mac would be a problem. Just
the opposite. The Mac is far easier to use with IP and in particular version 7.
That being said, it just works!

Soft proofing colors seems to be hit or miss. After creating an image in PS in
the Adobe RGB color space, I will make a duplicate copy and assign an IP paper
profile such as photo-black Ilford Smooth Pearl Day for my Epson 7600 printer. I
read long ago to always check 'simulate paper white' and try to make adjustment
layers to try to match the original as close as possible. Intent is set to
Perceptual. By using this approach, the initial image shifts towards purple and
is hazy. After creating adjustment layers with color balance and curves, I then
open the image in IP 7. Now the image looks different than the soft proofed
version. Not sure why this is the case. I will try recalibrating again, but the
question is whether to use the simulate paper white because it seems impossible
to make the copy image match the original. Thanks.
To All:
I have responded to questions about IP7 and Snow Leopard and missed the best
part of Image Print; Image Print 8! IP8 has been out for sometime and I feel I
should mention my experiences.
The best thing I can say about IP8 is that it too just works. I don't have a
feel for the PC side of IP8 but on a Mac Pro it is even easier than version 7.
The interface with SpoolFace and Image Print 8 is with out a doubt the best
Colorbyte Software has produced. With fewer glitches that require help and the
positive action when placing images and printing, I can say this is the easiest
printing application I have ever used.
The new features are great and flow very nicely.

Your view is what is also important. If
you are looking at the data incorrectly, it will never match your print. So
look at View> Proof Setup> and see where things are set. Try copying the
profile from your color setting in IP and putting them in your folder fro your
OS. Have PS load that profile, and view it there. If you assign a profile and
have your proof setup on yellow plate or Apple instead of Monitor RGB, or...
the wrong soft proof will give you the wrong place to look for changes.

Hi. I've been a long-time user of ImagePrint on my 2200, first on Windows and
for the past year on a Mac. I just replaced my 2200 with a 3880. The 3880 is
not listed on Colorbyte's site as being a supported printer. Naturally, I've
written to Colorbyte to ask when/if this will be supported, but I was wondering
if any of you were already using, for instance, the 3800 profiles with the 3880
(since they use different inks, I suspect this is not a good option).
Anyone have any inside info as to when they might support the 3880? By the way,
the native Epson driver for the 3880 is far superior to any Epson driver I've
used over the years, especially on the Mac which usually seems to get a
watered-down version of a Windows driver. Not so here and the original reason I
purchased ImagePrint many years ago (printing excellent quality black and white)
is taken care of very well in the 3880's native Epson driver. Still, there's
nothing like ImagePrint and I'm anxious to upgrade to a version when available.
Sandy
Addendum: I did notice that Profile Manager has a category under Epson labeled
X880 for the printer name, but when you click on it is lists the 4880, 7880, and
9880 printers. Wonder if this means they can easily add the 3880. I'll let you
all know if I hear from Colorbyte.

As of the first of the month, I was told by Colorbyte that they were still
waiting for their 3880 to arrive and that it would take about a week-ten days to
get a useable number of profiles together. I expect (hope)that we will be able
to use ImagePrint with the 3880 by the end of the month. Jon
