Re: [columbusconsortium] tandy 1000 query

Wellllllllllll, methinks I won't be able to get to Vegas. But thanks
for taking the time to look it up!

I actually have a Tandy 1000 case which I saved from the trash pile
and it looks to have most of the hardware in it. The problem is
finding a monitor to fit it. It is dual floppy and does search the
disk drives when powering up, looking for a boot disk (another problem
is finding that) so I'm guess it will work. If only I could see a
screen! :)

My old Toshiba T1100+ laptop was easier to get up and running. $5 on
eBay and a dude in Australia sent me the boot disk from his (runs DOS
2.11). I even used it during my return to college some years ago.
Hahaha! People with their new laptops and I'm sitting back there with
something far more ancient. I loved it.

Asides, when the lecture was boring, easy to pass the time playing
Infocom's "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". ;)

ed--
saw this auction on ebay for a complete working system with lots of
software &
peripherals:
m=5118975021&category=4193>

currently at $25 with 1 bid and 3 days left. one rub, though: the
guy prefers pick-up in
las vegas, so maybe a long week-ender is in order? :)

hth,
ben
