All--
I'm in the midst of dissertating/searching for a job, so the postings
have been rather sparse as of late...however, here are a few items of
interest that my legion of trolling robots have sucked up recently:
It is the 35th anniversity of the Internet. Yay!:

I stumbled across a cool new UK-based magazine in B&N the other day
called _Retro Gamer_, which is all about MAME, restoring old arcade
cabinets, old home consoles, etc. Print issues include CD-ROMs full
of goodies. The Web home is here:

From BoingBoing (via Slashdot): a shopping list for building a Linux
box on the cheap (around $100).

The DIY design/home improvement magazine _ReadyMade_ has an article
in the latest issue entitled "Recovering Memory: Computer Salvage
Geeks are Digging up Our Past." It discusses ethical salvaging
practices, Showcases Silicon Valley's Computer History Museum, and
mentions the decay rates of data storage media (our floppies are
close to death).
