I have just posted CombineZP.msi to my web site only, see

http://www.hadleyweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/CZP/News.htm

This is the full version only for the time being. It includes
updated macro sets, updated Help Files and the fully featured version
of the program. Note this is not the cut down version so may not
work properly for people with limited resources on their PC.

Anyone who tried the test version should 'Restore Standard Macros'
before using any of these.

I just found the dre macro in the ZP folder and it works great.  Beautiful upgrade!  I do like the original tool bar better than the new.  It was quite thoughtful of you to include it as an option.

Hi again Alan,

Keeps telling me it needs Net Framework and do I want to get version 1.1.4322 now? This happens even though I have installed Net Framework (3.5) and rebooted. Strange? I would have installed 1.1.4322 if it had been available, but it isn't as far as I can see.

Will someone who is having problems installing the .msi version please

mine.

Please also let me know if you get any messages when you try to run

Hi Alan,

Thanks. I've removed all the old versions, made a new directory and only have ZP installed now. I was getting in a bit of a mess trying to keep all the old ones -- in case. But that's quite unnecessary since you keep us all up to date so well.

Thanks again,

Hello Tony,

Any macro that you can use manually can be used by the batch processor.
The problem is that some sets are set up to allow parameters to be entered
at run time by the user. So for an effective, no intervention, batch
processing session you may need to modify the macros by leaving out 'Pause
for Macro Parameter Input' out, and making sure that the default values for
the parameters are the ones you wish to use. The Red/Green 3d macro may
need modifying to ensure that the displacement between the two frames is
correct.

Tony, do you mean it will not install? If so try downloading the .zip
version linked to from the CombineZP news page.

http://www.hadleyweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/CZP/News.htm

Unzip this and run from the folder produced.

I think the problem has something to do with the Windows installer, when I
get a spare moment I shall try to track it down

I have just attempted to download CombineZ5 to my older laptop running
Win98se.
Per instructions, I have created a file folder called "CombineZ5". I
have downloaded the CombineZ5 application, Fftw3.zip and Gdiplus.zip
to that same folder. I then unzipped both zip files to that same
location. However, when I try to open the CombineZ5 application it
says "a required dll file, Gdiplus.dll was not found".

Any advice? What do I need to do?

Alan,

Just back from the Jungle.

I loaded up CZP, and it looks very nice.  However, when I tried writing a new macro, it ran smoothly, but didn't put any of
the multiple the outputs into *utput folders.  It did put  a single output from each into the common folder --a feature I find very useful.

Nor am I able to run the old macro with the old batch on the old CZM.  It seems reference the new CZP.
I've posted the macro file Avf 35,45,60,DS.mac in Files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again for all the work you've put into maintaining and improving this already wonderful program,

Michael

Welcome back Michael.

You are correct, macro sets written for CombineZM will not work on
CombineZP. The file contains unicode characters now instead of single byte
characters, so that in theory macro names etc. can be written in any
language. The sets will need rewriting (I cheated and did a temporary
version of the prog. that loaded in the old format and saved in the new).

Because of the above CombineZP and CombineZM should live in different
folders if you wish to keep both on your syste

I tried outputting individual files from inside a macro, and there are
problems. I will have to investigate this further and get back to you.
The *out folders are created but the files are saved in the outer folder
without the file extentions, e.g. '.jpg' is missing, if you add it the file
is useable.

To test this I edited the 'Do Stack' in the 'Do Stack' set as follows

Select All
Normal Filter Output
Balance Colour and Brightness (Global)
Align All Frames Automatically (Two Pass)
_Do Stack(1,0,1)
Go to Top Frame
Output Active Frame(70)

It is the last line that saves the result.

I just found another bug, copying lines from the Progress box to the clip
board no longer works properly, I will have to investigate this one too.

Subject: [CombineZ] Macro for CZP Avf 35,45,60,DS.mac

Alan,

Just back from the Jungle.

I loaded up CZP, and it looks very nice. However, when I tried writing a
new macro, it ran smoothly, but didn't put any of the multiple the outputs
into *utput folders. It did put a single output from each into the common
folder --a feature I find very useful.

Nor am I able to run the old macro with the old batch on the old CZM. It
seems reference the new CZP.
I've posted the macro file Avf 35,45,60,DS.mac in Files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again for all the work you've put into maintaining and improving this
already wonderful program,

Michael

Hello Rodger, have you checked that the .dll is actually in the correct
place? i.e. 'gdiplus.dll' is actually inside the same folder as
CombineZ5.exe. To tell you the truth it has been a while since I had
dealings with Win98 so I cannot remember if Gdi plus is compatible with it,
I think it is. It should be possible to do an 'official' installation of
gdi+ which would put it in the windows folder, that way you would not need
the copy inside the CZ folder.

Subject: [CombineZ] Downloading glitch

I have just attempted to download CombineZ5 to my older laptop running
Win98se.
Per instructions, I have created a file folder called "CombineZ5". I
have downloaded the CombineZ5 application, Fftw3.zip and Gdiplus.zip
to that same folder. I then unzipped both zip files to that same
location. However, when I try to open the CombineZ5 application it
says "a required dll file, Gdiplus.dll was not found".

Any advice? What do I need to do?

Alan,

I wrote this macro using the components from CZP.  I did notice the extra files in the work folder that looked like outputs, but when they didn't open I assumed they were intermediate results.

I found that in order to run the old version of batch with CMZ it was not enough that CMZ and CMP were in different folders.  Even when I moved CMP to the desktop the CMZ version of batch still found it and reinstalled it back in the Alan Hadly folder.  I ended up uninstalling CMP in order to run the old batch with CMZ.

It's strange, after six months away from the computer I'm having to relearn how to use it!

Thanks for getting back so quickly,

Michael

Is it possible to automatically crop off the fuzzy edges of a stacked
image, or is this a strictly manual "best fit" exercise ?

Thanks.

Alec, Here is something to try if you have not done so already. If you
press 'A' once or twice the dotted rectangle moves in from the edges of the
picture, you can then save this by using "Save Rectangle As".

If none of the above rectangles is the right size, left click wih the mouse
at one corner of the desired rectangle and drag out to your preffered size,
now save as above using "Save Rectangle As".

Thank you, Alan,

So, the transition point between good picture and fuzzy bit is just a
"best guess" on my part ?

Regards,
Alec

Hello John, CZ does not explicitly set any picture information, what you get
is the operating system (Windows) default values. It will not even copy
information (exif etc.) from the input frames to the output image. If you
wish to do this you must use a 3rd party program.

I hope that I have now fixed the problems which occured when saving
files from within a macro, the files should be named correctly now and
go to the correct folder.

When installed from the .msi package the icon for CZBatch now has
a 'P' in its name when placed on the desktop this should stop
conflicts with the CZM version.

I have also made some minor improvements to the pyramid routines, more
detail should be preserved in areas that are over exposed in some
frames.

 Hi Alan,
  Do I need to install . NETFramework v 1.1.4322
for the (.msi) one? From the (zip) one, the icon is blank, on desktop.
  Thanks,

Alan,

I'll be trying it out this afternoon.

I've been using CZM on the images from my latest trip.  They're mostly of very small objects: between six and thirty millimeters on the long side; and the stacks are very long and dense: up to about 150 frames.  Average and Filter is the only algorithm that gives consistently satisfactory results on these stacks, though when the standard do stacks works, the results are much better: less noisy and better colour.  I'm looking forwards to seeing how the new algorithms perform.

Thanks once again for the wonderful program.

David if you have unzipped the zipped files CZBatch should have it's cprrect
icon. Right click on this and Send to Desktop (Create Shortcut) and it
will have the correct icon on the desktop. The icons of programs are not
shown in the zipped folder so you need to unzip them.
