Hello David,
no, it isn't: around 2007, Jan. 20 the extension of the observable
dust tail has been extimated in the order of ~1 AU.
One month later, on 2007, Feb. 20 the dust will estend up to ~10^9 Km
(plot #2); please, remember that the dust grains are moving along
hyperbolic trajectories --> extremely high speeds!
This:
1) isn't uncommon (cometary dust normally moves out the orbit of
Pluto, if you provide it enough time)
2) it doesn't mean that we will *see* the dust tail that long (its
extremities will be extremely diluted, and the sunlight scattering at
such distances is not very effective).
(it is expected that the dust tail length will exceed 10^9 Km). Is this a misprint? David Seargent [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]...

Dear Sebastian, yes, it's an interesting stuff. You are all right, but a single fundamental point: you are comparing brightness WITHOUT taking into account the...
... (snip) ... Yep, I know. That's the assumption that I made in the initial analysis. Thus, 3mag is an upper limit for the parameters that you provided. But...
Dear Sebastian, OK in all points, but you cannot forget, as you do, the syndynes. That of 10 micron is MILLION km far (inside towards the head of the comet)...
Hi Rob and other "famous photograpers," congratulations Rob at first, my first attempt was Ikeya-Seki in 1965, only comet West gave a picture like this, only...

Giovanni. At the current time can you give an estimate of how long in days the northern imagers or viewers can observer this? I know this is new but cloudy...
