Jerry,
It seems the Rpk-1 Program took up most of the message comments this
time. I share your interest in the Rocketplane Kistler, RpK-1,
Program's success mostly because I am directly involved with the
success or failure of the program. I can understand when you say you
have been following the Kistler program for "quite a bit". The
Rocketplane Kistler Program, which we just refer to as RpK-1, has been
"restarted" from where it, the entire COTS Program, was shelved in
1998 due to lack of funds.
NASA restarted the Commercial Orbital Transport System (COTS) Program
and is continuing the competition between Kistler, now Rocketplane
Kisrler, and Space Exploration (Space-X). The reasoning behind
restarting the COTS Program is simple. NASA wants to get out of the
business of re-supplying the International Space Station (ISS) and
turn its attention and resources to returning to space, the Moon and
on to Mars.
As for updates, I can't provide any "advance" information because we
are still in competition with Space-X for the final re-supply
contract. This is most likely one of the reasons Bigelow and
Rocketplane have teamed up for an "orbiting resort".
In a nutshell, we are picking up pretty much where the Program left
off in '98.
Regards,
Larry
