1st CALL FOR PAPERS
Introduction
The Institut de Recerques Envers la Cultura –IREC- (Culture Research Institute) and Cardona’s Town Council will sponsor in Cardona the 1st International Archaeology Seminar and Workshop about Prehistoric and Protohistoric Salt Exploitation, in Cardona (
This meeting is an open discussion for all specialists who wish to provide archaeological evidences of the production, distribution, social use, applications, utilization and exploitation of salt during the prehistory and/or the protohistory. This meeting has the threefold mission of making the projects and the studies developed by all those teams that work in this field known, exchanging information and the acquirement of new acknowledgement. The forum has also a constructive aim and will be a reference based on participation and collaboration.
Taking advantage of the event, a workshop has been prepared for Saturday, December 6. In this workshop five issues will be discussed:
1. Technological development in relation to prehistoric and protohistoric work materials.
2. Constructive technology during prehistory and protohistory
3. Burial aspects during prehistory and protohistory
4. Experimental archaeology
5. Cardona’s prehistory and protohistory
The workshop previous to the meeting has been set up to have a larger involvement by archaelogists and students in exposing their works at the international forum.
Events
· Workshop: Saturday, December 6th will be held from 16h-19h in the building located in “Portal de Graells”
· Visits and complementary activities: Saturday, December 6th, are scheduled in the morning.
· Papers: Sunday 7 and Monday 8, papers presentation in Teatre Els Catòlics
Deadlines
· Deadline for paper abstract turn over: October 4th. Acceptance will be communicated within 10 days after receiving the abstract.
· Registration deadline (either speakers and audience): November 21st.
· Meeting and workshop CD turn over: December 6th.
Papers
· Workshop: papers will have a maximum extension of 5 pages size A4, pictures included. Posters can also be presented together with the paper (80cm wide x 115 cm long –vertical format-). At the end of the meeting, on Monday 8th, posters will be returned.
· Duration: Each paper will have 10 minutes for its presentation and 5 more for discussion.
· Meeting: papers will have a maximum extension of 25 pages size A4, including pictures and photographs. It is recommended to present a poster together with the paper (80cm wide x 115 cm long –vertical format-). At the end of the meeting, on Monday 8th, posters will be returned.
· Duration: Each paper will have 20 minutes for its presentation and 5 to 10 more for discussion.
Abstract
· The paper abstract must be typed using Times New Roman font, size 12 and with a maximum extension of 15 lines.
· The abstract must contain the title (Times New Roman size 16), authorship and the binding organization or institution (Times New Roman size 14).
· It will be delivered by e-mail in one of the following formats: Word 2000, WordPerfect version 7/8, or PDF.
Languages and Interpreters
· During meeting sessions, an interpreting service in English, Spanish and French will be available.
· During workshop sessions, interpreting services will not be available so it is recommended to use either Catalan, Spanish, English or French.
· Papers (whether they are from the workshop or from the meeting) can be presented in either Catalan, Spanish, English or French.
