Of course, a visit to Salzburg, Austria is indicated.
Any of the distinguished caverns (such as Carlsbad)
deal in SALTS which are different from NaCl.

Syracuse was one of the salines turned to and
developed during the 1861-1865 revolution in America
when the Northern Armies were particularly interested
in destroying the Southern land based salt works and
estuarian salines. One of the major goals of
Sherman's march!

Probably Avery Island is of interest since the home of
Tabasco sauce is a salt dome!

By the time Sherman reached the sea salt sold for more
than gold! Attached is one Rebel State's response.

It is estimated that by 1863 one-half of all meat
supplies in the South rotted because no salt was
available for preservation. (This was grieveous since
the capture of Vicksburg cut the west of the
Mississippi meat supplies forever from the Southern
Forces.)
