  ** Salt and source **

The Danakil Depression in northern Ethiopia's Afar region is home to Lake Asal. It's Africa's lowest point, at 155m below sea level, and one of the hottest places on Earth.

Salt has been mined in the area for thousands of years. Traders still lead thousands of camels through 50C temperatures to carry salt blocks away. Radio 4 joins the traditional Camel Train on Friday morning.
