We have two compaq's,900amd&1ghzamd and love
both. First thing we did was max out ram, that helped
alot.I'm not going to say we've had no problems but compaq
techs helped right away.Maybe they read the boards!
Before we bought the compaq's we bought the Dell 8100
1.5 ghz monster. Thats what it turned out to
be--------a nightmare!!! Tech support was
rude----wrong------and-----almost non-exsistant! Two and three hours on hold no
lie
and rude little pucks when you did get someone.I
guess they just wanted the check or something. We sent
it back to dell for total refund---always buy with a
credit card you can fight back when you get shafted by
going to the credit card company. But in this case dell
looked at the log of phone calls and complaints and took
it back. I don't care what computer you buy it's
going to have bugs and it's going to be short on
memory.Unless you order a machine with added memory. From my
recent computer purchases, I've learned get at least
256k or better no matter what computer it is. The way
some of you feel about compaq is the same way I feel
about dell.It just makes no sense to have sorry tech
support and minimal memory. And another big bitch I have
is buying hardware and software and no one says by
the way you need to go to the manufacturers site and
download the updated drivers! Maybe this should be common
knowledge but it's not and not everyone reads the book word
for word.Simple solutions to problems that make
people hate the day they ever saw a computer. And on the
subject of parts crapping out after two years, thats the
way things are made today, everything expires after a
certain amount of time. That keeps the economy going and
profits rolling in. Everone will have their favorite
usually the first one they buy that they don't get the
shaft with it,and that's the one they will always
recommend to their frinds and whoever they over here
planning a computer purchase. And that's the way it should
be, push the one that worked for you! Lots of luck
