Ok guys, this is just a pet peeve of mine. I don't know who planted
this seed, but a lot of people seem to have sprouted this totally
wrong idea in their heads. It does not matter what "brand" your
computer is. Hardware is hardware. A CD-Rom will work in any pc that
has the proper connection (IDE, SATA) and meets the minimum system
requirements. The same goes for hard drives, monitors, RAM and
peripherals. Somewhere, someone came up with the rumor that Dell
builds their systems totally different and HAVE to have Dell parts.
That is absolutely false. I have been in the computer repair industry
for a while now and I have fixed many a Dell with normal parts right
off the shelf. I wouldn't be surprised if Dell employees are the
source of that one. I have heard Dell sales people tell customers
that only Dell printers will work with Dell computers. They try to
sucker you in. That's all it is with any statement like that. Do not
be pulled into those rumors. A computer is a computer, no matter the
brand. Now, if you look at mac versus IBM-compatible, then you are
bringing up a whole different ball game. As far as IBM compatible in
general, a computer is a computer, no matter the brand. If I have an
HP that goes bad and I buy a new eMachine. I can take my HP's DVD
burner out and put it in my new eMachine that doesn't have one. As
long as the connections are there, it will work. Please, unravel
yourself from this "will that monitor work with a Dell?" foolishness.
As long as the connections are the same and available, these parts
will work.
