My Second Windows Vista Review.

I have been on Windows Vista since it was a Beta and have had a
chance to review this operating system at length. I am writing
this follow up review because many readers at the site
(http://www.Windows-Vista-Update.com) have written to ask me
exactly what I feel about this operating system.

Since I run a Windows Vista related site, I often get asked
questions about Vista and what I think about the quality of the
O.S.

Here's my honest opinion.

It's not perfect but it's very very good and it's a major
improvement from XP.

First, let me state that I have a 3.06ghz cpu combined with a
500gig hard drive and 1 gig of RAM. I have a LOT of applications
and I drive my PC really hard. Under these circumstances, Vista
behaves really well. The graphics are slick and smooth, the
operating system generally looks beautiful and applications tend
to respond pretty well.

Further more, the combination of Microsoft Office 2007 and Vista
is a really potent coupling for the end user. I will write about
Office later but I thought I would just throw in a quick
mention.

I also use 2 monitors and was very easily able to split my
monitor setup in two and get productive within 10 minutes
(http://www.windows-vista-update.com/Using-two-monitors-with-Wind
ows-Vista.html).

The graphical user interface makes it easier to find files and
generally find your way around the PC. The control panels etc are
generally intuitive and it's a pretty good experience in
general.

Now, having said that, there are some kinks that still need to be
worked out.

* The OS tends to slow down mysteriously once in a rare
while..It feels like deja vu with XP. Now with 1 gig of RAm and a
3.06ghz cpu, I don't find that in the least bit amusing. Not
sure why this happens and whether this is a memory leak or
something but I know several readers have written me to tell me
that same thing. Maybe SP 1 will fix.

* AERO - The new fancy graphical user interface. Umm...useless.
I have a 512 meg graphics card and a fast PC and have had no
problems with the implementation of AERO. It's just that several
months later, I hardly ever turn it on. It's almost like
there's really no point to actually having it there. It was a
nice idea but this is a great example of having something just to
have it.

* Installation of some apps is difficult. This is the most
understandable "flaw". Not every vendor is on Vista but most of
them are getting there and this is not a major problem.

Other than those "flaws" I mentioned, Vista is superb. More
stable than XP, better icons and intuitiveness than 2000 and
Microsoft's most solid OS to date.

People talk about this not being as good as a Mac and I am a Mac
fan as well.

Truth is, after what I went through with XP, I am just fine with
Vista thank you very much.

It's stable, beautiful and it works.
