All of the rich-and-famous internet business guru's tell you
that "the money is in the list."

Of course, when people talk about "the list", they are talking
about your list of email addresses of people who have opted-in
to receive mailings from you. In some cases, people have simply
opted-in to receive advertising from you. In most cases, people
have opted-in to receive a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly
online newsletter from you.

The reason why "the list" is so important to your goals of
profit, is because most people will not buy from someone until
they have "heard of that person" or "heard from that person"
seven times. This is the "Marketing Golden Rule of Seven".

What it boils down to is that people only buy from businesses
they trust. And in most cases, it is nearly impossible to build
that trust, except through repetition. Through repeat contact
with a potential customer, a business can build a significant
level of trust with their subscriber base.

This is why it is so important for an online business owner to
contemplate publishing an ezine. Even if you don't yet have a
live ezine, you should still put the systems in place to build
your "list". You can always start publishing an ezine at some
future date. So, it would be better to have your list started
when you are ready to put out that first issue of your ezine.

Designing a Winning Ezine Formula

When designing your ezine, there are several factors you should
consider. All of these factors could affect the profitability of
your ezine publishing venture.

Are You Going To Publish Your Ezine In HTML or Text Format?

Both formats have their advantages and disadvantages. The biggest
advantage to the HTML format is that you can make your ezine
visually appealing through the use of HTML. The biggest
disadvantage is that a lot of people still do not have the
mailing software that will allow them to view your ezine in the
same way that you designed it. In the past, a number of people
did not even have access to email software that would allow them
to view HTML email at all. This is the reason why so many ezines
got started in the Text format to begin with, and they have just
never changed.

The advantages on the Text format is the general feeling that
everyone who receives it will be able to read it. And, for
constructing a new issue, it is pretty painless to put everything
together. The disadvantage is that plain text is not nearly as
attractive as HTML formatting.

How Frequently Are You Going To Publish?

Ezine publishers are sending their ezines anywhere from once
a quarter to five days per week.

For a lot of people, this is a really big decision.

When I was publishing my ezines, I would mail once every two
weeks. It felt as if it were not too much, and it were not too
little. That is always the balance you will have to seek.

You want to be frequent enough that people will pay attention
to your mailings. But, you must be careful not to go out too
frequently in terms of both your subscribers AND yourself.

Some people don't have the time to read daily newsletters. You
must consider their needs too. You want to go out as frequently
as possible, without seeming too pushy.

The other side is according to your own schedule. For the longest
time, I felt that once every two weeks was not quite enough...
But then my business took off big. All of a sudden, my business
was steaming so fast and furious that I did not have the time to
publish. I had to take care of my paying customers first and
foremost.

Your Layout Is Important

Your ezine layout should be visually-friendly and easy-to-read.

There are two baic layout rules to follow.

First, you should use lots of white space between paragraphs and
sections to reduce reader's eye-strain. If your ezine strains
your reader's vision, your readers may quit reading, no matter
how good your content might be.

Second, you should use dividers between primary sections so that
people who like to scan can jump to what they are most interested
in reading.

Consistency

This next rule applies to both HTML and Text formatted ezines.
You should establish a set format for how your ezine will appear
to readers, and you should follow that basic template with every
issue. Having a basic template allows your readers to learn what
sections of your ezine they are most interested in reading, then
they can jump right to that section on cue.

Choosing a Topic

It is often best to examine the people who are the people who
are most likely to buy your products or services. What are they
interested in?

If you offer webhosting services, you should discuss in your
ezine things that are important to webmasters.

If you sell pet accessories, then you should talk about all
things dog and cat.

If you sell vitamins, you should talk about good health.

See how easy this is?

A Personal Touch

Every issue of your ezine should carry a personal touch of you
within it, unless you are a big corporation. Many people don't
fancy themselves great writers, so they turn to others for the
primary content in their ezine. We will look at that next.

The personal touch that I speak of could be as simple as a
one-paragraph introduction to each issue. For that matter, tell
people about the latest antics of your dog. The important point
is to let your readers see a bit of you in every issue, enabling
your reader to feel that they know you one-on-one. That can be a
huge trust builder for you.

Locating Great Content

There is a type of content available referred to as Free Reprint
Articles. What this means is that you are free to use the
available articles without monetary cost, so long as you agree
to follow all other Terms of Use that accompany the article.

In most cases, the most frequent term that writers are concerned
with is that you use their About The Author information without
change, and you hyperlink any URL's pointing to their websites.
The writer is willing to allow you to use his or her content,
provided you are willing to allow him or her to advertise in
your ezine through the About The Author information.

Websites Where You Can Search For Content

There are actually many sources you can go to to find reprint
articles. Here is a few websites where you can go to search for
reprint articles:

http://www.EzineArticles.com
http://www.IdeaMarketers.com
http://www.Isnare.com
http://www.SubmitYourArticle.com/articles/
http://content.thePhantomWriters.com

Mailing Lists That Will Send You Targetted Content

If you would prefer articles to be mailed to you on subjects that
you are most interested in, there are several resources for that
too. As far as mailing lists go, there are four primary networks
that serve the vast majority of article submissions.

All but one of the large article distribution networks are
powered by companies in the article distribution business.

Rather than to divide these article mailing lists up by topic, I
am going to break them down by network. Each network generally
serves a different set of writers. My own polling has indicated
that the average writer only submits articles to seven groups,
unless they utilize a distribution service.

All of the following article mailing lists serve a specific
niche:

-------------------------------------
All-In-One-Business.com Mailing Lists (No Distribution Services)

There are more than 300 article distribution mailing lists
available in the open market. Many of these lists accept all
content, but the vast majority tackle these individual topics,
plus a wide range of other individual topics.

It is simply a matter of searching out the mailing lists that
most closely represent the kinds of content that you would like
to utilize in your ezine.

Finding A Good List Server

There are many mailserver companies out there. Of the free
mailing list server companies, the three best in my preferred
order are:

http://groups.yahoo.com
http://groups-beta.google.com
http://lists.topica.com

A good mailing company will give you a simple and secure
subscription process. It will give you online archives. It will
provide traffic through their site to give you an additional
source for new subscribers.

With the free services, you have to endure some of the mailing
server company's paid advertising within your ezine issue, but
that is a small cost when you consider how costly some of the
paid services can be.

In Conclusion...

Once you have navigated the planning and design process, the
actual setup and delivery of your ezine is a pretty straight
forward process. Once you have developed your winning formula,
your largest commitment with every issue is in finding the best
articles to place into your ezine.

With this guide, it is my hope that you will discover the perfect
formula for your ezine and the perfect sources for locating the
best articles to include in your ezine issues.

Good luck in your ezine publishing endeavors.

[Correction] Where Are Your Articles Being Published?
Copyright © 2006 Bill Platt
the Phantom Writers
http://thePhantomWriters.com

There are a few article directory software programs in the
marketplace. Some are great, some are good, and some stink to
high heaven, for the writer and for the website owners.

In an ideal world, all article management software would be easy-
to-use for the webmaster. Also in an ideal world, the submission
process would be fast and easy for the writer. But, this is not
an ideal world.

In today's article hungry marketplace, there are literally
hundreds of websites where you can submit your articles.

<B>Three Types of Article Directories</B>

There are three kinds of article directories:

  * Stand-Alone Directories of Articles Available for Reprint
  * Stand-Alone Directories of Articles Available for Reading
  * Article Directories Inside of a Website, with Articles
    Available for Reading

With these different kinds of directories, you will find
different categories of webmasters. This distinction is more
important than you think.

  * Corporate Owners
  * Independent Online Business Webmasters
  * Hobbyist Webmasters

Personally, I own two article directories. One has nearly 2500
articles in it, and the other has nearly 5000 articles in it.

Both of mine are of the first type, Stand-Alone Directories of
Articles Available for Reprint. But, I am not a corporate owner.
I am an independent online business webmaster.

The reason why the type of owner is important is that the type of
owner will determine where your articles will be published today
AND tomorrow.

Corporate owners have a bottomless supply of web server space
available to them. In the corporate category, these directories
are the most important:

  * http://www.ezinearticles.com
  * http://www.goarticles.com
  * http://www.ideamarketers.com/
  * http://www.uniterra.com

<B>Directory Owner Budgets</B>

Most new article directory owners have a small budget for web
hosting, and therefore, they have a limited amount of web server
hard drive space.

Most of these new directory owners have jumped into their website
with both feet hoping to cash in on their Google Adsense revenue.

After a few months, the truth will crash them into the wall.

On http://www.articles4reprint.com, I have more than 4500
articles live. I have another 1000 articles pending my approval.
Generally, it takes 30 seconds to approve one article. So, the
articles currently pending on this site will require an
investment of another 8.5 hours to bring up-to-date. One day a
couple of weeks back, I spent 19 straight hours approving
articles on this site. I am not going to stop taking submissions
to this article directory site, but it does require a lot of my
time to maintain.

Perhaps I am exceptional. I will spend the hours required to
approve articles, but will the next person?

I started this site with a basic account. I have had to upgrade
my web hosting package three times to be able to continue
accepting articles to the site. Will the next person make this
kind of commitment?

The payoff for operating a website like this one is the Adsense
revenue developed from hosting such a wide range of content on
the website. In the case of the http://www.articles4reprint.com
website, I am currently generating only $40 per month on my
Adsense account. Will the next person consider this a fair trade
of time for money? Likely not.

<B>I Know This Is My Business, But Don't Take My Word For It</B>

At various times, I submit articles to various directories. The
distinction of "at various times" is actually important. Websites
that were accepting direct submissions from me six months ago are
no longer accepting submissions from anyone.

Writers want to believe that they can just crank out hundreds of
articles, generating hundreds of links back to their websites.
Sometimes they can, and at other times, they cannot.

It comes down to this. Every website where I submit articles has
a human moderator at the other end of the transaction, and they
have the right to choose what materials they will use and what
materials they will not use. Each webmaster can also consider
whether the time required for the approval process will help
their bottom line.

These big article directories no longer accept articles from
anyone. Also shown is the last date an article was added to the
site.

  * http://www.article-emporium.com/ - December 2005
  * http://www.articletime.com/ - December 2005
  * http://www.learnthis.info - August 2005
  * http://www.family-content.com/ - May 2005
  * http://www.certificate.net/wwio/ - April 2003

Many smaller directories have also stopped taking articles. In
most cases, the websites show that they accept articles, but you
never realize that they are not printing your articles until you
look or until you hit the Submit button on the Submission Form.
Or, you can continue submitting to them, never realizing that you
are wasting your time, until you go to search the website for
your articles.

http://www.articlefinders.com says that they have a monster
backlog and they are not taking new articles until they get
caught up.

http://www.marketingtroll.co.uk seems to indicate that they are
still accepting articles, but they have not published a new
article since May of 2005.

Folks, I could go on forever. I could literally show your
hundreds of directories that seem to be accepting articles, but
they have not published any new articles in months or years.

<B>Generally, Mailing Lists on the Major List Servers Deliver
Better Results</B>

Article distribution email groups on Yahoo and Google generally
provide good results, but they fall into disuse almost as
frequently as web article directories.

Here, I will show the subscriber count of the Article
Distribution Group, the last time an article was published
through the list, and the URL for the list.

1003 – September 2003 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArticlePublisher/
560 – September 2001 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArticlePublish
2002 – December 2000 -
    http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/articles_archives
752 – June 2005 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreeWrites
474 – December 2000 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/The-Article-Depot
465 – August 2003 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WriteQualityContent

The following article distribution group is active, but there
is no moderator to review your posts:

1390 – June 2005 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ReprintArticles-Paradise
(the only people who can submit to this list are those
who were not moderated at the time the list owner
    disappeared.)

<B>In Conclusion...</B>

If you are distributing your own articles to a house list, check
back from time to time to make sure that they are actually using
your articles. Always verify your results. Don't waste your time
submitting articles to people who will not even look at your
articles.

Where Are Your Articles Being Published?
Copyright © 2006 Bill Platt
the Phantom Writers
http://thePhantomWriters.com

There are a few software directory software programs in the
marketplace.

  * Corporate Owners
  * Independent Online Business Webmasters
  * Hobbyist Webmasters

  * http://www.ezinearticles.com
  * http://www.goarticles.com
  * http://www.ideamarketers.com/
  * http://www.uniterra.com

These big article directories no longer accept articles from
anyone. Also shown is the last date an article was added to the
site.

  * http://www.article-emporium.com/ - December 2005
  * http://www.articletime.com/ - December 2005
  * http://www.learnthis.info - August 2005
  * http://www.family-content.com/ - May 2005
  * http://www.certificate.net/wwio/ - April 2003

Many smaller directories have also stopped taking articles. In
most cases, the websites show that they accept articles, but you
never realize that they are not printing your articles until you
look or until you hit the Submit button on the Submission Form.
Or, you can continue submitting to them, never realizing that you
are wasting your time, until you go to search the website for
your articles.

http://www.articlefinders.com says that they have a monster
backlog and they are not taking new articles until they get
caught up.

http://www.marketingtroll.co.uk seems to indicate that they are
still accepting articles, but they have not published a new
article since May of 2005.

Folks, I could go on forever. I could literally show your
hundreds of directories that seem to be accepting articles, but
they have not published any new articles in months or years.

<B>Generally, Mailing Lists on the Major List Servers Deliver
Better Results</B>

Article distribution email groups on Yahoo and Google generally
provide good results, but they fall into disuse almost as
frequently as web article directories.

Here, I will show the subscriber count of the Article
Distribution Group, the last time an article was published
through the list, and the URL for the list.

1003 – September 2003 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArticlePublisher/
560 – September 2001 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArticlePublish
2002 – December 2000 -
    http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/articles_archives
752 – June 2005 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreeWrites
474 – December 2000 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/The-Article-Depot
465 – August 2003 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WriteQualityContent

The following article distribution group is active, but there
is no moderator to review your posts:

1390 – June 2005 -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ReprintArticles-Paradise
(the only people who can submit to this list are those
who were not moderated at the time the list owner
    disappeared.)

<B>In Conclusion...</B>

If you are distributing your own articles to a house list, check
back from time to time to make sure that they are actually using
your articles. Always verify your results. Don't waste your time
submitting articles to people who will not even look at your
articles.

Applying Marketing Strategies For Small Businesses To
Capture The Market

Most small businesses cannot afford traditional offline
marketing campaigns to drive up sales. However, with
the following marketing tips, you can acquire and increase
more market share in these cost-effective ways:

1. Empathize with Your Customers: Focus all your efforts on
making your customer satisfied and emphasizing the
benefits of your product. For example, if you make rackets,
highlight how it can help hit the ball harder, rather than
highlighting obvious points, such as product features.

  2. Differentiate From The Competition: Define your USPs
(Unique Selling Proposition). This could be about the price of
your product (or special discounts or promotions), the
delivery mechanism and the areas you are prepared to deliver
to, the speed of your service, after-sales service,
methods of ordering, etc.

  3. Free And New Are Words That Sell: Offer these as often
as possible. To gain people's trust for new products or
services, offer free trial periods or money-back guarantees to
help reassure potential customers.

  4. Best Advertising-Word Of Mouth: If existing customers
recommend your service to friends, colleagues and/or
associates, you stand a great chance of getting new
business. Offer incentives to existing customers if they can
drum up new business. This is most effective and best of
all, it's free.

  5. Justify Every Cent Of Your Marketing Budget: Scrutinize
your sales patterns and keep track of the number of people
who see your ads, the number that respond, those that buy,
and those that buy again.

  6. Strike When The Iron Is Hot: The best salespeople are
those that follow-up. So, after making initial contact with
a customer or sending information, don't let the opportunity
pass by. Get back, sell then upsell.

  7. Request Your Customers For Product Endorsement: Enhance
the credibility of your product through testimonials by asking
customers if they wouldn't mind providing an endorsement for
your products or services. The more testimonials you put
together, the more confident your prospective customers will
be of the service you are delivering.

  8. Respond To Feedback: Understand your customers' psyche
by taking every opportunity to ask them what they think
about your product. Make sure you act on both positive and
negative feedbacks.

  9. Keep Your Message Precise And Catchy: Test it out on
friends and family – do they understand what you are trying
to say? You should be able to get any benefits about
your product in 30 seconds or less, so think carefully about
your choice of words, and how to deliver them with the most
impact.

  10. Entice Potentials With Bonuses: Offer customers an
incentive to sign up right away, within a time-close or
deadline, for example via a discount or free product.

Hidden Cost of Multitasking

Busy! Busy! Busy! Everyone is busy! What is the solution? Many
people believe that multitasking is the answer. I agree, if you
are a computer. Computers are masters of multitasking.

What is multitasking? It is the ability to execute more than one
task at the same time, a task being a program. We are talking
computers here folks.

The computer switches from one program to another so quickly that
it gives the appearance of executing all of the programs at the
same time. The key word is, of course, appearance.

Unfortunately, many people use the theory of multitasking to
arrange their lives. I frequently encounter people who believe
that they are capable of performing several tasks at the same
time. They aren't! Multitasking has become the problem.

Consider the cost you will experience, in both your personal and
professional lives, when multitasking and attempting to
communicate.

How many mistakes have you made because you didn't really hear
what the other person was telling you? If the person is a client
or a prospect, this can be very costly. If the person is your
spouse or significant other, it can be even more costly!

Multitasking is a barrier to effective communication. It is
necessary to focus, especially when you are listening. Because I
have a profound hearing loss, I know that I have to pay attention
to the person who is speaking. I am a better listener because I
am hard of hearing.

Since I cannot hear you if your back is turned to me, I believe
you cannot hear me. If you turn away, to shuffle your papers or
look around at other people, I stop talking. Do you know how many
times people have said, "go on ... keep talking... I am
listening".

No you are not! I don't usually say that our loud -- but I do
think it. Are your clients in the same position? It is not
possible to engage in meaningful conversation with the person in
front of you, to answer the phone, and to interact with other
people in the near vicinity. However, how many try to do that in
their office every day?

What is the solution? You must determine what is essential. You
must focus on what is important. You must do one task at a time.

Remember, the computer is able to switch from one program to
another so quickly that is gives the appearance of executing all
of the programs at the same time. You are not a computer.

Recognize the cost you will experience, in both your personal
and professional lives, when multitasking and attempting to
communicate.

Have you decided to publish a weekly newsletter to keep in touch
with your prospects? Today you will learn how often to send out
mailings to your list and how to manage your list. You will also
learn how to get people to sign up for your newsletter,
especially if you are in a crowded market niche.

(If you missed the first 8 steps, you can catch up here)
http://kenleonardjr.com/step1

Almost anyone can put together a weekly ezine. But only those
that take the time to learn how to properly manage their list get
to publish without all of the potential headaches.

So how do you get people to sign up for your list when there are
already many ezines trying to get noticed by your target market?
Offer your web site visitor an original added incentive to join
your list. Remember that your prospect is faced with giving their
personal contact information to someone that they do not know.
Create an original series or report that addresses a problem that
your target market is faced with and gives them a solution.
Here's an example of this in action: http://KenLeonardJr.com .

Don't make the mistake of offering your potential reader some
overexposed ebook that won't be useful to them. If you are giving
away a freebie that your visitor has seen a hundred times
already, they will not think it is worth giving up their contact
info for it. That's the bottom line.

Once your web site visitor has signed up to get your ezine, how
often do you send messages to them? Sending them way too much
email (like everyday) can make them see you as a nuisance. Send
your messages too infrequently (like once in 6 months) and you
chance that they will forget who you are. Avoid both of these
situations with consistent contact that is useful and not a
bother to your reader.

There is nothing wrong with sending messages to a prospect once
every three days at the beginning, if you limit this more
frequent contact to six or seven issues. Then increase the time
between your mailings so you are publishing weekly, bimonthly or
monthly after that.

Managing your list can become a chore as it grows larger. You
will need to make sure that unsubscribe requests are being
honored in a timely manner. Clean your list of all canceled
subscriptions on a regular basis, too. And you will have to
manage your undeliverable contacts, commonly known as bounces.
This can be quite a job if you have a large list that gets a
regular stream of new sign ups.

Rather than performing list maintenance manually, you should find
a list management system that will do most of it for you. An easy
to use automated tool that I use for my house lists can be found
here: http://arp.kljonline.com

Do yourself a favor and run your ezine the right way from the
beginning. Sure, you will make some mistakes. But following the
advice in this tutorial can keep your mistakes to a minimum and
make your life a lot easier.

It's a simple choice... Do you want to deal with a lot of
headaches on a regular basis or just the occasional small
problem.

Spyware attacks! Windows Safe Mode is no Longer Safe.

Spyware and viruses are getting craftier. New methods allow them
to boot up even when the user attempts to use safe mode; making
them extremely hard to remove.

Many of us have run into an annoying and time-consuming error:
With your machine running goofey you decide to run a scan for
trojans and spyware. Following the scan, which usually takes
forty minutes or longer if you scan the entire system, you are
hit with the "access denied" error. Frustrating, for sure, but
being the savvy computer user that you are you decide to boot
to safe mode to take care of the issue. No spyware can load
when booted to safe mode, right?

Wrong.

The newer variants of the CoolWebSearch, HuntBar, and VX2
infections all load even when safe mode is used. There are a few
different ways of accomplishing this, the most common being that
the spyware registers itself as a critical system process. This
ensures that it is loaded regardless of what happens, and makes
it much harder to shut down.

If you can't prevent it from loading then how do you kill it?
The answer to that is easier than it might seem. If you're
running Windows 98 or ME, then the easiest way is to boot to
DOS, and use a command-line scanner to search your hard drive.
These scans actually tend to run a bit faster, since they have
more system resources available to them courtesy of no GUI
being loaded.

"Well, that's all fine and dandy", you're likely thinking to
yourself, "I run Windows XP. You can't read it from DOS." True.
You can't read NTFS hard disks from DOS. However, you can use
Barts PE.

Barts PE is effectively a stripped version of Windows XP. It
boots completely from a CD, and loads a simple graphical user
interface. Coupled with plugins, McAfee, for example, you can
scan your entire computer without the fear that your nifty
little infection has somehow loaded.

it, visit:

Never Throw Business Away

Confessions of Shameless Self Promoters
http://www.confessionsofshameless.com/

While writing my book, Confessions of Shameless Internet
Promoters, I contacted dozens of Internet marketing experts from
around the world. During just one hour via e-mail I had written
to and received e-mails from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, the
UK and Australia. That is five countries around the globe in
just ONE HOUR. The power and the access to the world is now
available to all of us at lightening speed.

Here’s an example of how the amazing power of the Internet can
find endless opportunities:

A year ago I had a client in Australia that was in search of
another speaker like myself who is an expert in marketing and
retail, but that lived in Australia.

Since I live in Phoenix, Arizona US, I did not know a soul in
Australia, much less a great speaker in the same niche market
and the same topic of expertise my client was looking for. But,
following my motto to “Never Throw Business Away”, I set out to
find my Australian client a dynamic expert that lived in her
country.

First I did a search on Yahoo – Australia. Since my site comes
up very high on the search engines and directories when typing in
the keywords retail speaker, I was surprised that another speaker
appeared first on the list. John Stanley – who is this John
Stanley I thought. I clicked onto his site and viewed it in great
detail. I had discovered that I had some tough competition on the
other side of the world. Not only was John an expert in retail,
he was the perfect fit for my client. So I sent him an email with
the client’s contact information. Now you may be thinking, why
would you send your client to your competition?

Here are 5 BIG reasons why:

1. My client would have found this speaker on her own doing a
search on the Internet or by contacting a Speakers Bureau anyway.
So, why not be the hero and help out the client at the same time.

2. Servicing my clients is first and foremost on my list of
priorities. I take ordinary service and turn it into
extraordinary results. This is easy to do, just stop selling
and start servicing and you reap amazing results.

3. My clients are pleasantly surprised that I would not only
refer them to a competitor, but that I would take the time to
personally introduce them. My referrals are often sent in the
form of an email (first choice because it is quick, easy and
effective), personalized letters or one on one in person.

4. Business will comes back to you many times over when using
this method effectively. I have personally experienced this for
years in the many different businesses I have owned. Most people
are afraid of their competition and therefore avoid them. This
builds up a wall around you and a competitor who happens to have
the same core customer base as you do. Don’t’ fight ‘em – join
‘em! Build alliances and send them business. It is a win-win
for everyone involved!

You service your customer, help out your competition and they in
turn will most likely turn around and help you back. Note: If
after sending numerous referrals to my competition with no
reciprocating action, I simply stop sending the referrals and
find another expert competitor that is willing to trade referrals
fairly.

5. People like to do business with people that they like, and
they like people that treat them fair, honesty and who truly care
about making personal connections and offering supportive
service. That’s just good business!

And now for the rest of the story ...

When I sent my newfound competitor, John Stanley my clients
contact information, I never knew if I would her back from him
or not. And I did not know that he would want to reach out
instantly and help me back. At the time I was just helping a
client in need. But, John returned with an email to me within 24
hours. John thanked me for the referral and mentioned that he
would be in Arizona, just 20 minutes from my home in two weeks.
He said he would give me a call when he arrived. Now what are the
chances of this happening with someone I just met via the
Internet from the other side of the world?

A couple of weeks went by and the phone call came. John was in
town and wanted me to stop by where he was presenting to meet
and chat up a bit.

We chatted up a bit all right – two hours later of not stop
chatting we had discovered more and more ways to refer one
another. During our conversation, John told me he had to confess
to something that he could not tell me via email or by phone.

“Just two days before I got your email, I did a search on Yahoo
and found Debbie Allen. I thought, who is this Debbie Allen and
why am I not coming up first on the search engines under retail
speaker? So I went onto your site and discovered your
expertise. I thought, this lady is some tough competition on the
other side of the world. They I printed out a couple pages from
your Web site. Those pages were sitting on my desk when I got
your email!”

Wow! Makes the hair on your arms stand up, doesn’t it? What
are the chances? The chances my friends, for this type of
opportunity to happen to you, are endless now with the World
Wide Web. Oh yes, and if that is not enough to convince you
to do more marketing via email and passing on referrals to your
competitors, let me share with you what happened with those
referral leads.

John and I have shared many contacts and created business
opportunities in many countries including the US, Australia,
New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, UK and Africa. We have even
presented together on the same platform in England and were
dubbed the “The Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire Of The Speaking
Business”. In addition, John has become one of my most successful
distributors and resellers of my books in his part of the world.

DON’T EVER THROW BUSINESS AWAY AGAIN! Seek out, connect and refer
your clients to another expert if you can’t take the business for
some reason. Become the resource for referrals and connections –
the Internet Rolodex. When passing business along make sure
that you keep yourself in the referral loop. Send an email
introduction to your client with a copy to the person you are
referring so that they can see the contact was made. Pass on all
the contact information for the referral. Then wait for it to
come back around to you with TONS of personalized referrals and
increased business.

What’s in a name you wonder? The real question is-what’s in
your signature? Your email address and signature can make or
break your business efforts. Your customers and clients want
professionalism and credibility with those they choose to do
business.

Small Businesses Need a Professional Email Address.

Your email address in some ways tells your customer or client
about your neighborhood. To assure professionalism, your email
address needs to be credible. Your email address screams “cheap”
or unprofessional when it is listed as: yourname @ yahoo.com,
or some other popular but widely used domain (unless of course
you actually work for those businesses).

Think about it. You’re online buying a wedding gift for a
friend. You find a product you like at two sites, but have a
question about shipping. One email address appears to go to the
service department of the named site. The other to an AOL email
address. Which site is more credible and more likely to get
your business? Most people will choose the first example as
it appears to be professional and credible.

Your Email Signature Should Always Include More Than Your Name.

Your email signature should include a tagline, a promotion or
a two line message about your business, along with a link or
listing of your business website. Small home businesses usually
have limited resources for advertising. Never miss an opportunity
to promote your business. Take advantage of this opportunity to
announce a special, a new product, or a seminar your business
is hosting. Every communication from you should promote your
business in this discreet, inexpensive and professional manner.

Make the Move to a Better Neighborhood

If you have a website, you web host most likely has email
available with your hosting package or has it available an
option. Contact them to get your email set up. If you do not
have a website, you can subscribe to a service such as Yahoo
Business Email to get an email address which is professional
and customized. For a few dollars a month, you have a way to
market your business and build your credibility.

Attention to detail makes the difference in any business. Show
your customers and clients that you are a professional, and
assure them they can have confidence when they do business
with you. Be sure to use a professional email address and
email signature in your business.

experience as a small business owner of four websites to help you
get your small business online. If you’re a new small business

How to Get the Most Out of a Leads Group
Copyright © 2005 Leni Chauvin
The Client Attraction Coach (tm)
http://www.SuperstarNetworking.com

Most entrepreneurs are familiar with the concept of networking or
leads groups. They are in cities all across North America and
around the world.

These groups typically meet once per week for the purpose of
exchanging leads among their members. Usually only one person
per occupation is allowed to join the group so there is never
any competition for referrals.

Lots of people join these groups, and most people prosper
tremendously from them. If you're serious about increasing
your business, you'll find no better team to help you than
the dedicated members of your leads group.

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your
association with your local leads club:

-- Most groups have a structured system in place that is designed
specifically to maximize the number of leads exchanged every
week. The more you work the system, the more that system will
    work for you.

-- Members who understand that their leads group is NOT an
extracurricular activity and treat is as seriously as they
would any other business meeting tend to be far more
    successful in generating leads.

-- Belonging to more than one leads group at a time can have a
very negative effect on your ability to generate leads for
    yourself.

If your groups all restrict membership to one person per
occupation and you have a lead for an accountant, for example,
to which accountant in which group will you give your lead?

The members of each group will begin question your loyalty to
their respective group members and your ability to generate
leads for yourself in each group will be diluted by the number
of groups to which you belong. You are far better off
belonging to just one leads group and spreading your other
networking activities out in different areas.

-- Regular attendance is essential if you want to not only
reinforce who you are and what you do, but also if you want
to be seen as someone who cares about the other members'
presentations. Remember, you're there to give as well as to
get. When you show people you care about them, they, in
turn, will care about you and your business growth.

-- The most successful members are those who get together outside
of the meetings and actually go to one another's places of
    business.

A restaurant might be a nice place for a social meeting,
but nothing beats a referral where you can actually give
directions, describe the office, and where you have had the
opportunity to meet managers, staff, etc. Meeting in an
office also prompts people to dig into their databases for
referrals. I've seen it happen time and time again.

-- Serving on the group's leadership team not only develops
strong leadership skills, it showcases your talents as a
businessperson. The work you do as a volunteer is indicative
of the work you do professionally, so roll up your sleeves,
dig in, and knock everyone's socks off by doing an outstanding
    job.

-- Generating leads from group members comes from forming
relationships with them. This takes time. Use this time
wisely to get to know the other members and understand how
you can best serve them and their needs. It's all about
giving, and remember, what goes around, comes around.

-- Becoming proactive in recruiting new members does wonders
for your business growth. Don't forget that while you're
extolling the merits of your leads group, you're giving out
your own business card. Also, every new member exposes each
and every one in the group to scores of new opportunities.

If you gather that I think leads groups are a great way to garner
new business, you're right! :-) I would strongly encourage every
solo professional, small business owner, and entrepreneur to seek
out and join a group that best suits their needs.

Bottom Line: You reap what you sow and there's no more fertile
ground than a group whose success is based upon your success.

When e-mail first became popular in the 1990s, it was viewed as
nothing short of wonderful. There was no need to go to the post
office, no need to purchase paper or stamps, and no waiting days
for a reply. People could easily and quickly send written
messages to anyone else with an e-mail address. Life was good.

Then, abuses by commercial entities began to creep in and ruin
the fun. These spoilers were playing the numbers, and sending
out to millions of addresses that had been bought, stolen, or
otherwise obtained. They knew that if only an extremely small
percentage of those receiving their spam advertisements were to
respond, this would generate enough money to make the exercise
worthwhile. So communication was changed to reflect this abuse.

No longer was e-mail freely sent between writers. Now there
were filters for e-mail accounts. Internet Service Providers
(ISPs) were also on the lookout for spammers using their
services. Something as simple as sending out a newsletter
could prove tricky. If the ISP thought someone was engaging
in spamming, or had received complaints about unwanted emails
from recipients, the ISP could move quickly to shut the
newsletter, and sender, down. An easy way to avoid these
issues is by using a service such as the phantom writers
(http://thephantomwriters.com), which distributes to thousands
of sources, and leaves the writer free to create.

Safety has become a watchword for e-mail. Before opening any
message, it's important to recognize who the sender is. Going
beyond the enormous clutter caused by spam, computer viruses
abound, and many people are quite rightly hesitant to open any
sort of attachment.

Some web based e-mail accounts are not as good as others. Many
have size limits, forcing one to either pay up for more space
or open additional accounts. Some are difficult to access,
even when the correct password is used. With some of the
filters used, one never knows how much mail that is actually
wanted isn’t getting through the electronic walls.

Perhaps a better option is to use a password protected, secure
web site where only those you invite have access -- for the
times when you care about receiving communication. In this
way, messages can be sent directly, safely, and virus free,
to the intended reader. Keep the e-mail account for “junk”
correspondence.

Rosalyn Bronstein, a consultant serving corporate clients, saw
first hand the need for safe and secure communication channels
for her clients. http://www.ntouch4.com was created as a
closed environment to provide a safe and secure way for people
to exchange text and pictures without having to rely on email.

It pays for Single Christians to date other like-minded people

Searching for the perfect mate can be one of life's greatest
challenges.

Afterall, forever is a long time. You want to make the right
decision.

Dating itself can be really trying. It can be hard to find the
right people. What if they don't share the same values and
beliefs that you do? How do you handle that and when?

Wouldn't it be easier to know ahead of time that they are
Christian, just like you?

Wouldn't it be easier to know their respect for God and other
people, values and beliefs, mirrors your own?

I know my own dating experiences were trying at best. My stomach
used to churn before hand. I'd be so excited to meet new people,
only to cringe as that feeling was replaced with absolute,
crushing hopelessness as the person demonstrated a trait I knew
I just wouldn't be able to tolerate.

If they said something snide about children and my being a
parent, I knew it was over. If they weren't pet people, it
was going nowhere.

If they were vulgar, ignorant, not funny or if God didn't have
a place in their life like mine, what could we possibly have in
common?

A few incidents come to my mind. The dental hygienist who
chain-smoked. The girl who didn't shave her legs, her armpits
and didn't wear deodorant (it took a few dates to begin to
figure this one out).

I remember one Friday night where I thought I had met someone
with real potential. She was highly educated, respectful and
thoughtful. Several dates later, she showed up at my house
with an open bottle of wine, already drunk. And then she
stormed off when I mentioned concern that she had been
drinking a driving.

So how do you find the right people? How do you at least give
a first date a chance, by taking the time to get to know people
coming from a similar place as you?

The workplace can be a popular source, if there are lots of
employees and some that believe in God as you do.

But what if you work too much and don't have time to meet
people? Or, what if meeting people is quite a scary experience,
and you'd like to find a "like minded group of people", that
you can get to know via email first before actually meeting?

The answer, more and more, is the Internet. Never before has
the world's millions of singles, been able to find sources of
other singles who are just like they are.

The best part is these specific sources of singles can be
pre-determined ahead of time. For instance, you'll know you're
talking to someone who is Christian, because you found their
ad on a Christian singles site.

Make sense? Much easier than trying to make these discoveries
of values and beliefs over coffee or dinner.

You can further refine your search by specific age ranges, kids
or not, divorced or not, white, black, location, income level,
career path, Yankees fan or not (very important!), etc.

I finally found my Soul Mate through a personals ad on a
website. We lived in different communities but on the same
island (20 miles apart). More importantly, our hearts, beliefs,
values, sense of humor and general outlooks were very similar.
And we knew that before ever meeting.

It was wonderful courtship. We married the next year. And to
this day, many years later, we laugh that the first date never
ended.

You too can have this experience, when you find a source of
like-minded people to start to get to know.

Survival Kit for the Holidays: Grace, Gratitude and Random Acts Of Kindness
Copyright © 2004 Laura Turner
New Body News
http://www.new-body-news.com

If you're like me, the holidays always have a way of sneaking
in. And - like an unexpected visitor who shows up the week I
haven’t cleaned my home - I’m caught in a frenzy, desperate
to scrape up the tumbleweeds of cat fur and make the place
look presentable.

For me at least, it’s easy to forget the true meaning of
Christmas and Thanksgiving. Time is short and usually so is
patience. So this year, all this got me to thinking: How can
one neutralize the stress and get more enjoyment from the
holidays true intention? Read on for this girl’s remedies.

Finding Grace:

When meditating on the true meaning of this season, three
ideas came to my mind: grace, gratitude and random acts of
kindness. At first I wasn’t sure why.

Grace? I mean, how could I afford this? It’s been a rough
year full of deadlines, long hours and a whole lot of doing.
Who’s got time for grace? And therein is the answer: so
often the business of life far overshadows its true excitement;
the thrill of living in the moment, the anticipation of events
yet to come.

How to get back to this state of childlike wonder?

My #1 RX: Motivational Tapes

When I’m feeling frazzled there’s nothing that gets me centered
faster than hearing the voice of my favorite authors. And over
the years I’ve built an extensive collection of tapes just for
this purpose. This can work for you, too. I think you’ll find
when you need a portal to peace and guidance,it’s almost
instantaneous.

Feel free to try some of my favorites:

Dr. Wayne Dyer – There Is A Spiritual Solution To Every Problem
Neale Donald Walsch: Conversations with God, Book One
Iyanala Vanzant: Live! Audio: Piece of Mind
(all available from your favorite bookstore or Amazon.com)

How do motivational tapes work? In my assessment, they provide
comfort. They calm the mind and center the emotions. Then,
when the stress of modern-day life comes along, the mind draws
forth the inspirational words into the consciousness like a
helpful data base. Moreover, I believe this exercise, when
practiced consistently, can provoke a state of grace.

Need grace this holiday season? I invite you to use my method.
In doing so here’s what evolves:

Gratitude:

The reward for seeking grace? Gratitude. What is gratitude? I
would say it's an instrument of faith. Here's an example.
Often during stressful times, I ask for guidance: During a
vulnerable moment this holiday season, I received an angry email
from a critical reader (calling me unmentionable names). And so
I ask: "Please help me understand and make peace with this."

In the act of asking and placing faith in the universe I soon
received the answer: forgive. And for me, this process of grace
and forgiveness is solidified in gratitude. Gratitude gives me
the faith to (as one of my favorite authors Thoreau once quoted)
"move confidently in the direction of ones dreams."

Therefore, when I am grateful for what I have and trust that
I am moving in my own particular direction (regardless of what
others - perhaps having a rough and stressful day tell me), I
find my truest treasure: joy.

An Exercise In Gratitude:

Each day (especially during this time of year) I've committed
to taking a long look around myself. In doing so, I find
everything I can to be grateful for: a kind and loving family,
my health, my passion for writing. Soon I am overwhelmed with
gratitude for what I have been given and every ounce of
negativity has fallen away.

With this, I say “Thank You!” aloud, in praise of the gift I
have received. When I have taken the time to do this
(which often involves sitting down with pen and paper in hand)
I continue to be offered more in the way of positive experience.

Now I invite you to try this exercise for yourself. Ask: What
do I have to be grateful for right now? Take the time to notice,
make a list and say "Thank You!" I truly believe if one
continues offering positive statements forward to the universe:
the pathway to beautiful joyful experience is opened. We are
then in a state of co-creation.

Random Acts of Kindness:

The completion to the circle comes when we have reached some
measure of emotional and spiritual equilibrium. When I have
reached this place of balance with my (or what I perceive to be)
problems and stress, I have followed what Philosopher Joseph
Campbell calls "bliss."

Are we ever truly in bliss? Well, this is real life after all.
However, when I've taken the time to become more grateful and
accepting of where I am right now there is a way I can continue
to expand my gratitude. How?

By sharing it.

I've noticed, if I continue to give away what I have in earnest,
it expands. Therefore, If I choose to create more joy in my life,
I can do so by causing another to feel joy. How? Here's my
favorite way: random acts of kindness.

Perhaps I may sound certifiable to some. But, I invite you to try
this exercise for yourself. Need some ideas to spread the love?
Here's my method.

Usually I begin by asking myself "How is it I may serve?" Can
I give a few extra dollars to charity in this holiday season?
Can I send a card and a short message to someone who I haven't
seen in awhile? Can I send flowers to my mom "just because?"

If you look around, it is not hard to find ways to share a
loving thought or message. For a small amount of time, effort
and money it's easy to cause an earthquake of joy. Furthermore,
In these times of war and fear, every moment and thought of
joy and love counts.

In Closure:

When I become stressed-out and unfocused, I always try to remind
myself: it's all in the attitude. If I think it’s raining
outside, dark, cold, and lifeless, this is the life I create.
Yet, if I face my obstacles with grace, love and gratitude, I
create more of that. By giving love and kindness - there's just
that much more to go around.

Why Authors Should Blog
Copyright © 2004 John Colanzi
The Simple System
http://www.thesimplesystem.net/cashflow.html

While watching the presidential conventions I was struck by
the fact that blogs had totally revolutionized the
publishing industry. Sitting right alongside the major news
agencies were the bloggers frantically typing on their
laptops. Even seasoned veterans who had covered past
conventions mentioned the power of this new media.

Due to the dynamic nature of blogs, the bloggers with their
laptops could report in real time, thus getting their
stories online long before the morning newspapers would hit
the streets. Commentators even mentioned that many of the
breaking news stories had been reported first by bloggers.

Think about this for a minute. Gutenberg revolutionized the
publishing industry by letting writers mass produce their
work.

The next phase of growth was the Internet. Finally anyone
could publish their work and have it sent around the globe
in seconds. When the digital publishing revolution hit, it
seemed too good to be true.

With the digital revolution anyone and everyone could now
spread their message. Writers could bypass the traditional
publishing industry and save time in getting their work to
the public.

They no longer had to fear that dreaded rejection slip.
They could succeed or fail on their own merit. No one had
control over how or what he or she could write.

The Internet was a writer’s paradise.

It seemed as good as it could get.

Well, we hadn’t seen anything. Web logs, or blogs as they
are called, have propelled publishing to the next level.

Not only could writers publish in real time, they could
have it online instantly.

As powerful as that may be, the real power lies in the
ability to syndicate your writing by plugging your content
into an RSS feed.

Imagine the possibilities. You can now become a part of a
targeted network of like-minded blogs and have your content
spread through the entire network in the twinkling of an
eye.

You’ve got the ability to tap into the ultimate in viral
marketing and branding. You can build an audience
overnight.

So, how can you get started?

The first thing you’ll need is a blog. Don’t let the
concept of a blog intimidate you. I’ve got a blog and trust
me; I’m not the sharpest axe in the shed when it comes to
technology.

To get started you’ll need a blog. Here are a few sites
you'll find helpful.

FactoSystem Weblog (ASP based)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/facto/

InstaBlog
http://instablog.hit.bg/

OpenJournal
http://www.grohol.com/downloads/oj/

GeekLog - The Ultimate Weblog System
http://sourceforge.net/projects/geeklog

Blogger
http://www.blogger.com

Your goal when creating content for you blog, is the same
as it would be when creating a website. Your content will
be designed to attract the audience that would be
interested in your books.

The same idea applies when adding your blog to an RSS feed.
You want to have your content syndicated to individuals
that have an interest in your writings and are willing to
buy your books.

Your content gives them a taste of your writing style and
expertise. The feed makes sure you get maximum exposure.

An added benefit is most blogs allow visitors to post
comments about your site. By posting their comments and
having you reply, they get to know you are a real person.

The ability to have a give and take with your visitors is
an extremely powerful tool. Your readers will feel
comfortable doing business with someone they know.

Your next step is to plug into an RSS feed. Your goal when
syndicating your content, is the same goal you would have
when building the traditional ezine list.

The feed will drive targeted traffic to your blog, but it’s
your ability to provide quality content that will keep them
coming back.

So where can you learn more about RSS feeds? An excellent
place to start is RSSTop55 - Best Blog Directory And RSS
Submission Sites.

http://www.johncolanzi.com/feed.html

This site is just what the name implies. The top 55 blog
directory and submission sites. You can find a feed for any
subject.

If you’re serious about you writing, grab your blog. Plug
into an RSS feed and become an expert overnight.

How To Avoid Having Filters Eat Your Emails

Profit Magician

You've probably read 1000 times that "the money's in the list."
If you're an Internet or email marketer, that's only partly true.
The truth is that the money is in properly written emails,
that get delivered to your list members. That last part is
what most online marketers are missing!

An article in the June 2004 issue of Time Magazine reported
that 40% to 70% of email sent to the four major ISPs is
deleted at the server. Those ISPs are MSN (including Hotmail),
Yahoo, Earthlink and AOL. That simply means that there's a
very good chance that your legitimate email is not getting
through to those subscribers using those ISPs.

The bottom line for you and I as email marketers is that
building huge opt-in lists, seeking JVs, or publishing an ezine
is largely futile, unless you correct the above problem first.

So how do you correct the problem? Many people who send
emails know that many ISPs score emails as they arrive at the
server. Email that scores above a certain score is identified as
probable spam, and is deleted. So, many of us go through
our email messages before sending them out and delete or
modify trigger words.

I'll let you in on a big secret. Most of the words that you see
cleverly disguised (often with extra spaces or characters) aren't
what causes most of the problem. It's combinations of words
that causes the problem. It's those combinations of words and
a few other major mistakes that gets your email killed.

To find out what those major mistakes are, you can get a free
report called "The 21 Deadliest Spam Filter Violations" here:
http://myQuickPayPro.com/qpp.cgi?adminid=3054&id=91007
The typical ezine that I see makes over half of these mistakes
every issue. Does yours?

There are two major things that you can do to avoid having
your emails "eaten" by the filters.

The first one is to have your list members "white list" you
or add you to their address book when they first subscribe.
Right on your confirmation page, instruct them to add your from
email address to their address book or to their approved list.
How they do this is different for each ISP. Generally adding
the from name and/or email address to their address book or
approved list will do the trick. Also tell them to periodically
look through their junk email folder to confirm that your email
is getting through. If they want what you're sending them,
they will do this. Often moving an email into the inbox will
cause the system to stop filtering your email too.

You can also tell new list members to do this in the confirmation
email, but that's a little late, since they may never get that
email.

The second thing you can do is run every email that you plan
on broadcasting (or even some personal emails) through a
system that scores the email. Email above some magic score
(around 5 at many ISPs) is guaranteed to be deleted.

There are a lot of tools for scoring your emails. The one that
I prefer is called E-filtrate. You can check it out at:
http://myQuickPayPro.com/qpp.cgi?adminid=3054&id=91007
which is where you can also get the report mentioned above.

What I like about E-filtrate is that it's a browser-based system
that allows you to score an email, suggests 3-7 substitutes for
each trigger word (that you can make right within the program),
and even allows you to do test sends to confirm that your email
will get through.

The system also allows you to check to see if your domain/IP
is blacklisted. If your domain is blacklisted, then all email
from that domain is blocked by certain ISPs. So you could
have a "perfect" email, and it could still not get through. The
solution there is to get the domain de-listed or to send from a
different domain.

Once you have a reliable system in place for "quality
controlling" your email communications, *then* you're ready
to put your list building on steroids. Then you're ready to set
up all kinds of joint ventures, and benefit from that huge,
responsive list.

Implement the simple steps outlined above today and you'll be
pleasantly surprised. Something this simple can multiply your
profits many times over. It can actually be the one thing that
turns a struggling business into a major success. ;-)

9 Great Reasons To Help An Internet Marketing Newbie

Zig Ziglar, the famous self help guru, was once quoted as
saying "You can get everything you want in life if you help
enough people get everything they want in life."

Nowhere is this more true than on the internet and internet
marketing. I remember when I first started looking into making
money on the internet. What an overwhelming feeling. The
internet is a big....big...big...world.

When you first get you started you are considered a "Newbie."
A newbie is an affectionate term given to someone who is
new to the internet and all of the geek speak that comes
with trying to figure out how to use it.

Do your remember when you first ventured out in the
online business world? You probably had questions
and problems along the way. Wouldn't it have been
easier if you had help? When a newbie asks for your
advice, educate them; answer their questions and help
them solve their online business problems. If you do
not have the knowledge to help them out, point them
in the right direction.

I have found forums as a great way to get information
myself as I need it as well as a great place to help
people who have particular questions.

Another great place to get help and to help others is Joe
Robson's "The Newbie Club." The Newbie Club contains free
computer and internet technical problem solving, plus free
tutorials, free eBooks, free courses, free guestbooks, free
autoresponders, free help and advice, a free newsletter,
free affiliate program and a free membership.
http://www.team-schuman.com/newbie

When you help out a newbie you'll personally
get many benefits as well. Here are 9 great reasons
to help out a "Newbie" make money online today.

1. You will have a great feeling knowing you had
a part in their success.

2. You could end up being business partners
in the future. You could regularly do joint venture
and cross promotion deals with each other.

3. They may join an affiliate program or mlm business
with you and help you build your business. There are many
2 tier affiliate programs and mlm businesses today that
pay you a handsome commission to teach people how
to promote their products online.

4. They could help you develop a new product or service
or help you get an exsisting project off the ground.

5. They may become one of your best friends. Most
people can use new friends, even business owners.
You never know when you will run across someone
online that you enjoy working with and talking to.

6. They may help you out with your business. Maybe
they will give you some testimonials or endorsements
for your products or services.

7. They might offer you some free advertising space
on their web site or in their e-zine for your help. You
could also exchange advertising with them.

8. They may become one of your best customers
today as well as purchase back end products from
you in the future.

9. You could exchange links with them and build
your link popularity, ultimately increasing traffic
to your own website

There are many other benefits you could get
from helping a new online business owner. Always
remember to help them out because it's the nice thing
to do and not just to benefit your own business.

10 Benefits Of Submitting Articles To E-zines
Copyright © 2004 Jeff Schuman
Ezine in a Box
http://www.ezine-in-a-box.com

When I started Ezine-In-A-Box I wanted to help people
publish their own email newsletter without writing a single
word. However, there are many benefits to writing articles
ansd submitting them to other ezines. Below is 10 good
reasons you should be writing and submitting articles to
ezines.

1. You'll brand your web site, business and yourself by
submitting articles to e-zines. You could include your
name, business name, your credentials, web site address and
e-mail address in your resource box.

2. You will become known as an expert on the topics you
write about. This will give you and your business extra
credibility which will help you compete against your
competition.

3. Your article might also be placed on the publisher's
home page. If they publish each issue on their home page
this will give you some extra exposure.

4. You might get extra exposure if the e-zine publisher
archives their e-zine on their site. People might want to
read the back issues before they make the decision to
subscribe.

5. You will get free advertising. This will allow you to
spend your profits on other forms of advertising. You could
buy advertisements in other e-zines that don't publish your
articles.

6. You might get extra income from people wanting to hire
you to write other articles, books, or even ask to speak at
seminars. This is a great way to multiply your income.

7. You could allow e-zine publishers to publish your
articles in their free e-books. Since people give them
away, your advertising could multiply all over the
internet.

8. You will get your article published all over the web
when you submit it to an e-zine publisher that has a free
content directory on their web site. They'll allow their
visitors to republish your article.

9. You'll gain people's trust. If they read your article
and like it, they won't be as hesitant to buy your product
or service. You will then be able to increase your profits.

10. You could get your article guaranteed to run in an
e-zine. You could agree to run one of their articles in
your e-zine if, in exchange, they run yours in their
e-zine. It's a win/win situation.

Understanding Email Netiquette
Copyright © 2004 Trevor Johnson
BestPrac.Org
http://www.BestPrac.Org

In life, it is the moral responsibility for the elder to teach
the younger, or for the experienced to teach the inexperienced.
In internet life, the same moral responsibility applies in
regards to correct use of email.

One large difference is that, in internet life, it is very often
the younger who are the experienced. The current waves of growth
in internet usage, the new users, are largely from the older
generations.

Accordingly, it becomes the responsibility of the experienced
users to educate and train newer users in the correct usage of
email. One simple way of imparting this education to lesser
experienced internet users is to politely refer them to this
article, either on the page you are currently reading or at
http://BestPrac.Org/articles/netiquette.htm

The internet life carries it's own versions of courtesy, privacy
and security issues that all users need to know. Hence a new word
has entered the vocabulary - Netiquette. (Internet etiquette.)

For example:

* In internet and email culture, ALL CAPITALS IS AKIN TO
SHOUTING and is universally seen as rude and impolite.

* New email users often forget to include a brief "Subject"
line on their emails, or do not understand the importance of
it. Ordinary postal service "snail-mail" does not ordinarily
require a heading about the contents of the letter on the
outside of the envelope - though most posted periodicals and
many commercial accounts nowadays do identify the contents or
level of importance on the outside of the envelope. Email,
however, operates very differently from snail-mail. Never
omit a subject line, and keep your subject line brief and
relevant. Without a subject line, your email will probably
be seen as yet another junk email and be deleted unread by
the intended recipient. More commonly, it may not even reach
the recipient at all. Many ISPs filter suspicious looking
emails and delete them without delivery. A blank subject line
to an email filter is like waving a red rag in front of a bull.

* Never send emails to people you do not know without their
express permission. Only send email to people who you know,
or who have clearly indicated that they want to receive
correspondence from you. Violation of this act of Netiquette
can land you in all sorts of trouble. You will be labelled as
a spammer. In some states or countries, you risk being charged
with criminal or cival violations of the law for sending
unsolicited email. Even in countries or states where there is
no specific law prohibiting unsolicited email, it is regarded
as bad manners and offensive. If you check with your ISP, you
will almost always find that they reserve the right to
terminate your internet connection if they receive complaints
about you for sending unsolicited email.

* Even when sending email to people that you do know, only send
them what they are likely to want. Not everyone you know wants
jokes or other "chain email" forwarded to them. Not everyone
shares your sense of humour or has the time while connected
at work to be reading frivolous emails. If you like forwarding
jokes or other "chain emails" to your friends, check with them
first to be sure they are happy to receive them.

* Think before you type. Type, then think again. Unlike
face-to-face or voice-to-voice communications, the easily and
quickly typed email can all too easily be a source for
expressing your feelings in the bluntest of ways. Similarly,
the hastily written word may lack feelings and not express the
emotions that can be sensed with eye contact or voice
modulation in other forms of communications. It is too easy
to forget that there is a human at the other end - not just
a computer. You can very easily damage your own reputation
and destroy friendships with thoughtless emails. Once an
email is sent, you cannot retrieve it. The damage is done.

While to the experienced user all of the above is simply common
sense, as the old saying goes "Common sense is not really all
that common." These basics are not innate within the human sole.
Newcomers need to be taught.

When to use To:, CC: or BCC:

Another vital area of appropriate email usage goes beyond merely
being courteous in your communications - the correct use of To:
or CC: or BCC when adding recipients to the email your are
sending.

All popular email software and all web-email accounts give you
a choice of these three different ways to add a recipient for
your email. (Sometimes you might need to check your software
menu and enable BCC as a visible option. It is not a visible
option by default in all email software, unfortunately.) Your
choice has vital privacy and security implications, so it is
important to know which to use and when. While "To:" is self
explanatory, a brief definition and history of CC: and BCC:
will help you understand their correct usage.

CC: is a term from old fashioned typists. It stands for "Carbon
Copy". In days of old, prior to photocopiers or word processors
with laser printers, copies of letters were made by inserting
two sheets of typing with a sheet of carbon paper in between
into the typewriter. When a secretary typed a letter that was
meant for one person though another person (other other people)
was to receive a copy, and the first person was to be informed
that a copy was being sent to another person, the typist would
add a line under the signature at the end of the letter, along
the lines of:

  CC: Joe Bloggs.
      Jane Smith.

This convention alerted to direct recipient to the fact that
the letter had also been sent to other specific people.

If you did not want the direct recipient to know that copies
were sent to other people, you'd simply not include a CC:
line at the end of the letter.

BCC: stands for "Blind Carbon Copy". It is the electronic
equivalent of sending a letter to multiple people without a
CC: line. It means that people receive the email without any
trace of who else is also receiving it being revealed.

Given those definitions, there are simple guidelines as to when
you should use To:, CC: or BCC: in the emails that you send:

* If your email is being sent to just one person or email
address, place it in the "To:" section.

* If your email is being sent to more than one recipient and all
the recipients truly need to know who else is receiving it,
put all the addresses in the CC: section.

* If your email is being sent to more than one recipient but
there is no urgent reason for all the recipients to know the
names and email addresses of everyone else to whom it is
being sent, put all the addresses in the BCC: section.

(Some email software requires at least one address to be placed
in the To: section. If yours insists on this when you are trying
to send a CC or BCC email, put your own email address in the To:
section.)

Understanding these basic principles of email usage has many
benefits. It preserves the privacy of your contacts. It prevents
lists of names and email addresses being sent to strangers when
someone you send an email then forwards it to others. It helps
to prevent viruses, worms and trojans being accidentally spread
by your friends with out-of-date antivirus programs.

Most of all, it shows the people with whom you communicate that
you are sensible and responsible in your online behaviour. It
shows that you take their privacy and security seriously. It
builds trust in your communications.
