I made a cable release for the 990 ages ago using a PIC16F84A
microcontroller.

Here is a link to my project and another link to someone else who made it
and has some info on the cable connections.

its a serial protocol, its been a while since i played around with my 990
but you either hook up the serial connector cable, which is what the mc-eu1
remote, or you use the USB cable and chat through the dll.

if memory serves its a mono 3.5mm jack for the serial connection.
