Call for Panels Proposals

Panel sessions provide a forum for the exploration of a hot topic either among expert panel members or between the panel and the audience. Sessions can be in the form of panels, debates, goldfish bowls, or any other format that encourages active discussion and exploration of a topic. A panel presents a varied number of viewpoints, a debate actively argues two or more opposing perspectives, and a goldfish bowl allows numerous ideas, including those from the audience, to be presented in a semi-structured format.

Panels should be informative and even fun. The best panels are those where a controversial topic or opinion is thoughtfully discussed. The best participants include people with a variety of backgrounds and viewpoints. They do not have to be experts; valuable insights can come from "gurus" as well as from those in the trenches of daily software development.

A panel abstract is limited to two (2) pages. It should contain the following information, in this order:

--panel title

--panel format

--panel organizer information (name, affiliation, address, email, phone)

--panelist information (name, affiliation, email) for each panelist

--panel description

The panel description should include an introduction to the panel topic and a short position statement from each panelist. The panel organizer must select appropriate panelists who will make a commitment to participate. The panel organizer is responsible for obtaining position statements from panelists and integrating them into the abstract before submitting the proposal. All accepted panel abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings.

Acceptance will be based on an evaluation of the session's potential for engaging the panelists and audience in lively and substantive discussions, the timeliness and expected interest in the topic, and the organizers' ability to lead a successful session.
