"A Dozen Ways to Get the Testing Bug"

Mike Clark will be XP Denver's guest speaker on Monday, March 22. Mike
last presented to our group in July of 2002, and we look forward to this
return visit. The Qwest Auditorium doors will open at 6:00 PM and the
presentation will begin at 6:35 PM. Included below is information on his
presentation topic, the meeting agenda, and directions. XP Denver meetings
are open to the public and there is no fee to attend.

Test-driven development received a lot of attention in 2003, and the
interest will grow in 2004. For good reason: everyone agrees testing is
important, but now many programmers are claiming that by writing tests
first, they see better designs emerge. These same programmers quickly point
out that test-driven development makes them feel more productive and less
stressed. It all sounds good, but how do you get started on a real project?

Writing tests doesn't have to be difficult or time-consuming. We'll explore
12 practical ways to start writing JUnit tests, and keep writing them,
regardless of your development process. You'll be able to immediately apply
these no-nonsense techniques toward improving your design and testing
skills. In no time you'll be writing better code, and faster!

AGENDA:

6:00 - 6:30 PM Networking and refreshments

6:30 - 6:35 PM Announcements and door prize giveaways

6:35 - 7:45 PM Mike Clark's presentation

DIRECTIONS

The Qwest auditorium is at their building on the corner of 17th and Curtis
at 1005 17th Street. At street level, to the right of the escalators, are
doors leading to elevators. Take an elevator to the "A" level (Auditorium).
If those doors are locked, you can take the exterior escalators to Level 1
and enter via doors to the right of the escalator landing. If these doors
are locked, go to the main building lobby which is on Level 1 if you walk
straight from the escalator landing.

In addition to street parking, there is an outside parking lot on the East
side of the Qwest building that costs a flat $6 after 4pm. Several other
lots are within a few blocks and covered parking can be found in the Tabor
Center for around $4.
