Hi Paul,
A coloured ringed Little Egret of the same scheme was seen recently in Buckinghamshire. This is the reply when asked for "any more info"
"Good to see a colour ringed LITEG has been seen in your area. The colour ringing of LITEGs is administered by Richard Hearn of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
Email: littleegrets@yahoo.co.uk
The bird seen with the Orange ring on the left tibia shows it was a bird ringed in SE England and Channel Islands region. There are other colours for other UK and Ireland regions e.g SW England and S Wales is Green. The ring on the right tibia is the colour combination that is being used at the time with the 'regional colour'.
However, to identfy the individual bird, engraved letters or numbers on each of the rings have to also be recorded. So all rings have these vertical characters, repeated three times around the ring. "
Regards
Kevin
