Not me. I'm busy at this time.
But here is a dilemma I've been facing for some years: I know that being on the
road on a car increases the chances of an accident substantially - so in several
situations in the past I have avoided the car in favour of the public transit.
It just seems one of those deathist (under)designed systems with accepts
accidents as 'part of life'. Why don't they have
rails/chutes/tracks/fully_automated_driving that are collision/accident proof.
Grrr...

How about discussing latest news on H2S, new CPR techniques, rapid induced hypothermia in cardiac patients, etc.

The 'new' CPR is worth discussing. (though it's much more simpler than the
'old' CPR)
There was another thing on my mind -
It's still a fuzzy concept but essentially the concept is to have a community
cum old age home cum profit making organization which is NOT exclusive to
cryonicists.
Primary purposes:
Profit making organization = earn a living.
Old age home = to take care of one's old age and some basic 'first' aid for a
cryonics suspension.
community = see post
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/cryonicssocietyofcanada/message/2217
Agreed this is a rather non-exciting conversation compared to say AI, uploading
etc. But in a few decades the realities of old age and the inability of the
system ( or your children - if you place your bets on them) to take care of you
will come to the fore - unless we begin taking efforts now.
Mike - I remember that when we last spoke, you talked something related to a
community - I forget - perhaps you can put you can put forth your views now so
that others can read it. My apologies for not following up with you on that - I
was very busy.

One of the reasons I put this out here is that I cannot do it on my own - my
profession takes up most of my time. But a bunch of indivduals who are well
adjusted (oxymoron among cryonicists :)) and motivated can do it.
Think of how countries get things done - people pay taxes to the government and
the government does things - ofcourse this analogy is skewed in several ways but
I guess you get the point...
There is no harm in putting together some numbers (not merely financial - that
is the last thing on my mind, but more on logistics, time-scales, efforts,
compensation etc.) to see the fesibility of such a venture. If it's not -fesible
we can drop the idea.
Anyway- just to give a further direction to this - anyone interested can contact
me. Initially I'll probably split the task of fact-finding among people
interested and serve as a co-ordinator.

CSC is not a religious organization and Christmas party is meant to be an end of the year party.
I personally celebrate Newtonmass so I would call it a Newtonmass party.
