GENERAL SUMMARY:
This incumbent will provide programming support to the Manufacturing Technology group for the maintenance and enhancement of existing data extraction and reporting SQL procedures. The incumbent will develop and document new SQL procedures and queries as required, including the authoring of Validation documentation such as User Requirements, Design Specifications and Validation protocols. The incumbent will also execute validation protocols as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain and enhance existing SQL stored procedures.
2. Work with client groups/subject matter experts to develop requirements (URS) for new/updated procedures and/or custom queries. May be required to lead team efforts to define URS.
3. Develop, document and, where necessary, validate SQL code against the agreed URS
4. Work with IT department DBAs to ensure proper installation and performance of stored procedures.
5. Ensure that programs are developed and deployed in a manner compliant with corporate and regulatory requirements (including 21 CFR Part 11).
6. Develop and deliver SQL training as needed.
7. Guide the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
8. Apply extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
9. Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
10. Perform work without appreciable direction, Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relative long-term perspective for desired results.
11. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE:
1. B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or related field with 5 or more years industrial experience, preferably in a GxP regulated environment.
2. Demonstrated expertise in programming for MS SQL Server 2005 or later.
3. Ability to create complex tables, stored procedures and views with transaction level locking strategies.
4. Experience using DTS/SSIS desired.
5. Experience defining and building necessary audits and controls to ensure the accuracy of the data.
6. Experience/exposure to using Visual Basic.NET and NET CLR extensions to SQL Server a plus.
7. SAS programming experience a definite plus.
8. Background in structured programming a plus.
Ability to research and resolve technical issues independently.
9. Good project management and organizational skills.
10. Excellent teamwork and communication (both oral and written) skills.
11. A working knowledge of regulations (GxP) related to data system applications is desired.
12. Previous experience with Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical manufacturing database programming desired.
13. Self motivated and requires minimum supervision
14. Ability to train/mentor others in SQL programming.
