TOPIC: Stories from the Trenches

 

This month's informative presentation comes to us from France Baril, who has successfully implemented DITA at IXIASoft. France has been an instrumental participant on the DITA Technical Committee since its inception.

 

Scary short stories you can learn from the promises of XML and DITA include better content quality, lower production costs, better usability and increased collaboration between authors. Are these promises a reality or are there monsters in the closet?

 

This presentation is based on true DITA implementation stories. It offers remedies and suggestions against monsters (i.e. vanishing topics, related links spider net, etc.) that might be haunting writers and sheds some light around scary dark shadows that are lurking to get in your technical departments.

We have a room set up for 28 people in C building, which has security guards on duty until 9:00.

The photo has a marker showing the Building C entrance at the north side of

the campus. If you turn off of Parmer at the main entrance, you'll need to

skirt around the west side of the buildings to get to the C entrance. If

you head east/southeast on Anderson Mill from Parmer, you'll find the "back

entrance" that feeds directly to the Building C entrance.
