The Steinberg Institute Online Forum is an interactive side of Steinberg Institute, based in Atlanta.
Our Next Meeting will be held Thursday November 19, 2009 at 7:00 pm.
Topic: Composing on the Fly With Frederick Ravid
Understanding change and when to create it over time is THE key to writing good music. In a live and interactive composition session we will explore "nuance not loops." Since repetition is used very sparingly by master composers, looping of segments in contemporary studio offerings sounds transparently sophomoric and is best avoided. Writing music the real way carries a kind of dynamic and changing energy that makes listeners realize they are hearing craftsmanship, not a computer's clockwork.
Steinberg Institute Founder and Wizzard Media Studios Director Frederick Ravid will demonstrate Cubase 5 along with an assortment of VST instruments including Halion Symphonic Orchestra in a session dedicated to genuine Musical Composition.
There will be ample time for Q&A about Steinberg and VST technologies, plus conversation video/audio studio integration and production techniques.
Location is SAE Institute of Atlanta.
