Hi Mo,

Sorry that I couldn't make it to the meeting tonig
ht, but here is my contribution. We can provide a bottle with the
mixture (rubbing alcohol+water+ food coloring) instead of everyone
looking for all the ingredients.

Haim

Hello all,

Mrs. Vasquez (K-4) and I came up with a shoebox plan for the Kindergarteners that she is going to run by all the K teachers.  There currently exist three well organized KinderColt activities developed by Chelsea a few years ago, 5 copies of each activity.  I will add 5 copies of the Grow a Tree activity developed by Scott Sipas to the collection.

Each teacher will get an activity for about a month, and will hand them out to students as they see fit.  Handouts will happen on Wednesday, which is their library day and be returned by the following Tuesday.  I will get either room parents or classroom volunteers in each class to check on the returned kits and replenish as necessary once a week.  After a month, I will rotate the kits between classrooms.

Not all of the kits are related to Trees, but my thought is that for now let's just try to get the program started and worry about refining it more to match the science topic each year.  Keeping the numbers of kits low for now will help us figure out how many we can really support.

If you all agree, then we'll get going in December.

Chelsea - can I have the graphic and template for the KinderColt kits?  Also, the original files will help me make spares for when kids forget to return it on time.  If you'd like, you can upload all this to the website for future use.

Parents of Kindergarteners (Scott, Roger, Mary, Jenn??)  - can I get a volunteer from each K class to check on those kits, ideally on Tuesday afternoons or Wednesday mornings?  I will handle K-4.

Thanks you for attending the meeting.  Our next focus is to provide FOSS take home science kits to all classes before Thanksgiving.  Please check out the minutes of meeting for details.  If you'd like to help and not present at our meeting; please let me know.
