Hi folks,
Fifth graders are doing water bottle rockets on June 9th and I will need lots of empty soda bottles, any size.  Not water, not gatorade, soda only.  There are black plastic bags tied to the ramp of B14, just rinse and stuff into the bags.  Thanks!!!

Pia, could you post on Curie website also?

THANKS!!!

we're trying to get kyle into the one in coronado, but he is on the waitlist. Tess is going to standley.

We looked at CPMA a few years ago when kyle was ready for middle school. I was underwhelmed with the academics, but they have really nice toys there! (meaning, fun equipment, not "toys").

Hi all,

My son, Robert, goes to CPMA.  It is in Clairemont, where the old Kroc school was.  We love the school.  There haven't been any issues around bullying or being afraid to go to the restroom during school hours (which I have heard can be an issue at other middle schools).  The teachers are very receptive to parents - we still check on Robert quite often. :-)

If you want any more info feel free to contact me.  I know it can be a tough decision for both parents and kids.

Hi
I was at a function at the zoo last night and they had cups made from corn....my daughter has seen these at some high school science events...

I looked up the products  http://www.f-k.com  and they are really cool and the local distribution is a 619 number so they are local; we might be able to use some of this type products for school functions and be ahead of the curve.  It would require preplanning, but we know that there are events we use this stuff and if we can get the products at a comparable price we can buy some to have on hand.

There is a line of other stuff they guy at the zoo said we should check out when I quizzed the food service manager about the great cups (Stalk Market earth friendly disposable tableware, flatware, food packaging. Products includes; plates, bowls, serving trays, sandwich boxes)    www.stalkmarketproducts.com

Just wanted to make sure that this info got out there.

Funny you should bring that up - last year in fourth grade we had made a landfill model and put all kinds of stuff in it, including a spoon made from corn, and watching them biodegrade.  I saved one landfill and the corn spoons and we are going to look at it in the next few weeks and see how it is doing degrading-wise.  It will be about 14 months in the "landfill"  be sure to ask your fifth graders about it in the next few weeks.
