I've taken a quick, uncalibrated look at the 2000 images taken last
night with Wright30, and sent this graphic to Joe Patterson, Jonathan
Kemp, and Arne Henden in the hopes that it helps with identification and
classification. It appears to show a 0.05 mag. oscillation in the six
hours of data.
A more proper, calibrated analysis of all these images will come later.
Clouds are trying to move in from the south...may not be able to take
data tonight.

Following right on the heels of Gordon's report, AAVSOnet telescope
Wright30 (12-inch LX-200) has initiated a time-series on this star for
the next six hours...V filter, 3-second exposures. (That will make a
lot of images at 9-second cadence.)
The star is approximately two magnitudes brighter than GSC 5325-1544/HD
30437 (approx 9 arc min W of the target), which has an approx/Tycho V
mag of 10.25
AAVSOnet telescope BSM (Bright Star Monitor), 60mm Takahashi refractor,
has completed a IRVBBVRI sequence (three times).
http://www.aavso.org/news/bsm.shtml Images have already been ftp'd to
AAVSO HQ. The 2 x 1.5 degree field of BSM allows many comp stars to be
included in the frame, up to magnitude 6.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Patrick,
As usual, your posts to the list are informative, relevant and interesting.
Thank you very much.
Looks like another interesting CV to follow up on.

CRTS observed SDSS J094002.56+274942.0 in outburst yesterday (see
<http://nesssi.cacr.caltech.edu/catalina/20010319/103191260474100307p.html>) at
mag. 14.6. At minimum it is around mag. 18. This CV was discovered by Szkody
et al. in SDSS spectra (<http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2007AJ....134..185S>).
As far as I know, this is the first observed outburst of this object after its
discovery (there was a previous outburst in November 2002, observed by NEAT).
To my knowledge, the orbital period is not yet known, but the object is fairly
red in SDSS, so likely its period will be relatively long.

Last night's I data (JD 152.54 - 152.91) appears to show TT Ari at true
quiescence...no outbursts/brightenings at all...only a periodic
rise/fall of a few tenths of a magnitude. Is this the orbital signal?
