However, this afternoon I got an automatic update of Vista and wincvs stopped
working. An attempt to execute wincvs.exe produces an error RS6034, complaining
of incorrect loading of the C runtime library. After I reply OK to three of
these error popups, wincvs starts but does not seem to have read the database
files. I reinstalled wincvs, but that did not help.

Since I haven't heard from others on this, I presume there is no general problem
for the CVS community. Once I had backed everything up, I tried to use CVS
anyway despite all the error messages, and found that the problem is confined to
Python and TCL. I have Python 2.6.2 installed. When I called its GUI, IDLE,
directly it complained about being rejected by MacAfee's firewall. Turning that
firewall off and using Microsoft Vista's firewall instead seems to fix both
problems.
