Encyclopaedia on the towns and villages of Ukraine).
I've consulted the still useful Ukrainian Soviet
Encyclopaedia. The village of PLYSKIV, located in the
easternmost part of the Vinnyts'ka region, is related
there to the "plyska", a sparrow-like bird
(motacilla).*****
