Journalism.co.uk is hosting the Readers' Revolution panel discussion on Monday,
4 December, at Imperial College, London.

Kevin Anderson of the Guardian, Professor Clyde Bentley from Missouri School of
Journalism and the BBC's Robin Hamman will each give a short talk followed by a
panel Q&A about the practicalities of engaging with a new, restless and often
disenchanted news audience.

Student members of the audience are invited to submit articles to the
Journalism.co.uk student coverage competition.

Find the best line from the event, get the most enlightening quotes from one of
our guest speakers and write it up in double quick time - it's all good
practice!

Articles need to be no more the 250-words long and submitted to Oliver Luft no
later than 09.00 hrs on Tuesday 5 December.

The winning entry will run on the Journalism.co.uk news site. Come on junior
hacks - sharpen those pencils…

Speaker profiles

Kevin Anderson - Guardian

Kevin Anderson has been an online journalist since 1996 - designing, editing and
writing websites for both broadcast and print media.

In 1998, he joined the BBC and became its first online journalist based outside
of the UK, covering the US for its award-winning news website.

After coming to the UK in 2005, he developed a blogging strategy for BBC news,
helped launch a programme on BBC 5Live covering weblogs and podcasts. He was
also on the team that launched the interactive radio programme World Have Your
Say on the BBC World Service.

Kevin is now the blogs editor for the Guardian, where he is responsible for
management, strategy and 'leading by doing' for Guardian Unlimited blogs.

Professor Clyde Bentley - Missouri School of Journalism

Clyde Bentley is an associate professor at the Missouri School of Journalism who
came to academia with two decades of professional newspaper experience.

While Missouri is the spiritual home of traditional journalism in the US,
Bentley raised eyebrows in his profession by launching a citizen journalism site
that collected and disseminated everyday stories from everyday people.

But the twist is that it was all part of a plan to create revenue and reader
interest in a traditional daily newspaper organisation.

Robin Hamman - BBC

Robin Hamman is a senior broadcast journalist at the BBC where he has
responsibility for developing editorial strategy and training to help
journalists and producers across the BBC's English Regions to engage with and -
where appropriate - manage online communities and user-generated content.

He is also project manager for the BBC Blogs Trial, leads the BBC's "blog
school" and is co-producer of the experimental BBC Manchester blog.

Robin also regularly contributes to BBC 5Live's Pods and Blogs. His personal
