Does anyone out there have a pair of KLH 9's they are wanting out of there house for $ or trades? I have a friend that I got 1 pair for and now he wants another, he is reverting back to his youth and to issue 1 of Stereophile.  I will pick up as I need to come and see Jim Rivers anyway and pick up some other stuff. Any leads appreciated.

Hi guys,
In my continuing effort to de-clutter the audio stuff and parts
stored in my garage, I plan to bring stuff to the Saturday meeting.
This should include Allen-Bradley type carbon resistors, some 9 pin
ceramic tube sockets from Western Electric. These are pulls from a
Telco tear out I was involved in circa 1988. Glass Audio and Sound
Practices mags. Various knobs, switches, pots, transformers, etc. All
the above are freebies. The plus includes some things for sale cheap.
Some Klipsch home theater speakers. L+R and center, Heathkit chassis
and transformers, Huge rebuilt/reworked electrically and cosmetically
Sony turntable.

So, it is not appropriate to show up at the door at 6:00 am with line
arrays playing 110db? ;) That is fine. Terrell is a little drive
anyway. If I can con Paul Stewart into bringing his new arrays, it will
take an hour or so to load them anyway. 240lbs each!

Thanks,

Blair

Turntable? What turntable? The Sony mentioned has no arm. Plus I

I'll help load them, but there is no way the focal towers will fit with
those arrays. We will not be able to close the tailgate with the arrays
either. Hope Terrell is flat where Paul lives. Lots of railroad tracks!

Hello everyone,

I have the following items for sale. If you are interested in any of
them, you can send me an email at blair_4 at msn.com. Too much
equipment and looking to downsize a bit. I can provide details and
pictures upon request, but it may be monday before you get them unless
internet is connected at my new house.

Parasound PHP-850 with original box and manual: $250 obo.

PP KT88 amplifier based on the DIYTUBE driver boards. This is a stereo
version in a single chassis using a large toroid cased in curly malple
and aian rosewood. $550 obo.

SE KT88/6550 amplifier. Cases in semi-figured black walnut. Very nice
looking stereo amplifier. About 10W $500 obo.

Pair of aluminum chassis with 800vct trannys (I have the tranny
schematic written out somewhere). Includes one Hammond Choke IIRC, it
is a 193J. Includes IEC with filters, and binding posts. Chassis are
drilled for a single octal tube and a noval tube. Was a pair of monos.
I can include sockets with assembled SE circuits if you are interested.
$150 for the pair obo.

Thanks for looking. If anyone is near McKinney and would like to hear
any of this (minus the chassis:P), call me at (972) 832-9169.

This is kind of funny regarding the SE amplifier I had for sale.
Anyone want to try to better this story, go for it. I sold this item
to a guy that watched it lapse on ebay for $299 plus shipping! I
needed to clean house badly. It was very nice looking and sounded
great though the few DAC memebers tht heard it only heard it for a
few minutes due to a bad diode.

Anyway, I tossed in a pair of EH KT90s, Sovtek 6550WAs, and a pair of
Shuguang 6l6GCs(surprisingly sounded very nice). I also included an
old Mullard made Amperex 12AU7 that had about 10 hours on it. Several
power cords and a variety of nice by pass caps etc....

I kept checking the Fedex site and entering the tracking number, but
it stopped on the 24th of last month. The guy who bought it was a
good faith kind of guy and kept telling me not to worry because it
would eventually get there, but after a week and three days past the
ETA, I called claims and the lady on the phone told me in the fedex
truck my item was on burst into flames while driving and all content
was lost. It was quite a mixture of emotions. Part of me wanted to
laugh hysterically because the chances of this happening are slim to
none, and part of me was about as aggravated as a person can get
thinking about all the time and money I put into it. Just crazy! As
it stands right now, there is a claim with my name on it sitting in
Fedex Dallas. They guy who bought the amp has been very good with the
news, but I can't help but feel sorry for the guy. It was a really
nice looking amp! He asked if I could rebuid it for him, but it would
be impossible for the $299 he paid for it.

Anyone able to top that one? Just for consoling purposes...LOL!!

And Fedex will probably fight the claim for not packing in fire proof material

Not many amps go up in smoke caused by an external failure.

Just crazy! As

I will add a bit more to the capacitor topic below.

I am a power supply engineer and swollen capacitors are aren't always
the fault of the manufacturer. The biggest problem I have found has
been the misuse of an electrolytic by the design engineer. Ususally
it is the result of the ripple current in the capacitor being too
high. This causes the internal temperature to rise inside the cap.

Check the spec on the capacitor then use a current probe to verify
the ripple current into the cap. Pay attention to the frequency that
the capacitor is seeing. If it is to large then add a film cap across
it and then check the leg on the cap again. The film cap will have a
lower ESR and shunt some of the current off the Aluminum
Electrolytic. Be sure and test the leg of each capacitor and don't
exceed the manufacturers published spec.

Howdy all,

I'm selling much of my A/V gear due to our moving to a smaller house last Spring. I was hoping to use it in the new place, but limited space won't allow it, not to mention my wife. So before I list these items on Audiogon, I thought I'd let members of HAS & DAC have first crack at them. All the equipment is in excellent condition, with the exception of the Shunyata power cord, which has a frayed shrink wrap at one of the ends, and deserves a good home.

Basis Debut Signature Gold Standard Mk III turntablein excellent condition. Includes Graham 1.5 tonearm with tungsten side-weights and ZYX Airy 2 cartridge. TT was set-up by Albert Porter. Wish I could keep this one, but it's too wide for my rack. TT without arm or cart originally sold for over $12k. Asking $3,800 including arm, cart, record clamp and original packing. A tremendous table at a steal of a price.

Here's a stock photo of table with linear tracking arm. My table has a graham unipivot arm instead, but different arms may be used with appropriate armboard. You may have to cut & paste this link to your browser to view this photo.

VPI HW 17F Record Cleaning Machine – Works great. The only issue is the switch lettering is wearing off. Sells for $1,295 new, asking $600.

http://www.vpiindustries.com/products_17.htm

Thiel PowerPoint Speakers v1.0 – pair of Thiel's highly regarded on-ceiling/wall speakers in white. Originally sold for $1,300 each, asking $900 for both. http://www.thielaudio.com/THIEL_Site05/Pages/models/Current_Models/PowerPoint/pwrpt.html

Enlightened Audio Design (EAD) PowerMaster 2000 - 5-channel amp capable of delivering 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms, all channels driven 20–20,000hz. The casework is black. EAD is no longer in business, but their equipment is still being serviced and modified by Noble Electronics.

I'm the original owner and love this amp. It sounds great with both music & home theater. It's a beast at over 110 lbs, so I'd rather not have to ship. Originally sold for $7,200, asking $2,800. These amps are highly sought after, and don't come up for sale often on Agon.

http://www.nobleelectronics.net/

EAD TheaterMaster 8800 HT Processor (black) – a complimentary piece to go with the amp. In addition to DTS & Dolby Digital 7.1 processing, it also has an 8-channel analog bypass for multi-ch SACD's and the new uncompressed Blu-Ray codecs, DTS HD-Master Audio & Dolby Ture-HD. The newer Blu-Ray players can decode these formats and output them to the 7.1 analog inputs of this processor. Comes with pre-programmed Marantz (Pronto) touch-screen remote. Sold for 5K new, asking $1,000. If I didn't have to go to a receiver for space considerations, I'd keep this one.

Sound Applications Reference Linestage Power Conditioner – currently listed on Agon. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?powrcond&1231360843&/Sound-Application-Reference-Li

I also have several high-end power cords available, including a Shunyata King Cobra, and Elrod EPS-2 & EPS-3 Signature with 20 amp iec.

E-mail me with any questions or offers. Thanks.
