It is sort of a quirky way to do it, but in my version 4.01, the text
in a cell determines the overall row height. I usually don't bother,
but if I have less text lines in one cell row than the others, I can
tuck in a blank line break (from Notepad) and the lines come up to the
same height as the lines with real text.

Have not tried 4.02 yet.

I agree. Both about the quality of the program and about the smaller

I'm afraid that this feature is not present in the program.

Many people have mentioned enhancing the recurring date feature. While I am
certainly
considering it, it is a complex option that I don't know if I'll be willing/able
to devote the
time necessary to implement it.

Sorry,
Brent.

We really LIKE this calendar package, however we need a feature that (as far
as we can tell) is not included.

We need to schedule recurring events by Day of Week -- for instance, every
Tuesday.

HUGE deal for us as most of our events are recurrent.

Really don't want to enter the same event manually for 52 weeks per year.

Anyone know how we can automatically enter recurrent events by Day of Week?

Thanks!

Foolish me, it had absolutely nothing to do with NT or such. I run my
laptop at 1600x1200 resolution and the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons did
not show up in the configuration screen, so the configurations didn't
save. When I ran the program under 1024x768, I had access to all the
options and the screen layout looked much better. I should have
thought about that before I posted the questions, but live and learn,
right?

thanks for your time and great program by the way!

I obviously have no idea about your network, but when I was logged in
with admnin permissions (NT5 Windows 2000), it will create directories
wherever. But if I log in as a user, I get a dialog "Directory not
created" when I change the path. I imagine that it might be a
permissions conflict with your network and you might get errors or just
not be able to write to a different path.

I also copied my \calendar\ dir to a different path wihtout checking
the inherited permissions, and it came up as "Read only". Can you check
the file attributes on the directory you want to use?

You have probably done all that already, but just some stuff I ran into
when setting up/moving stuff.

A couple of problems I have run into-

I am running NT 4.0 which my network administrator installed to
WINNT40 instead of WINNT (don't ask) and that may be contributing?

Despite setting the output path in configuration and then creatng a
new calendar, whenever I "write" the files, they go to the default
path. Additionally, if I click on "configuration" again, the default
path pops back in. Is there a "save configuration" that I am missing
somewhere?

Thanks,
Michael

That worked! I think it's also possible I forgot the trailing "/"

Hi bonehunter,

I think I finally figured this out:

On my server (RedHat Linux Apache 1.3.27) I need to use the relative
path to the directory (the absolute path to the direcotry does not
work even though it is under the 128 character limit). In my example
this is "/var/www/html/calendar/". I just use the ftp.domain_name.tld
for the address, but if you have a static IP that might be as easy.

Permissions on the /calendar/ dir and files are set at 7-4-4, but I
am ont sure if that matters.

John

Welcome back,

This really sounds good, because HTML Calender Generator really is the best
calender generator program on the net. And believe me - I have seached the
net for calender programs.

I would like smaller updates, because I like to follow the development of
the program.

Hi,

I have fiddled with this for more than a year and never got it to
work right. I just write to a local directory and upload with WS_FTP.
Not a big deal.

I have tried every possible combination of remote directories I can
think of, from the full path (in my
case /home/virtual/site#*/fst/var/www/html/calendar/) down to
just `html/calendar/' and a few combos of file permissions, but I
still do not have it right.

Anyhow, I'll watch to see if Brent posts a sure way to determine
this. I have a feeling it will vary a lot from server to sever.

I'm using the program for the first time, and everything's working

Hi, rayo2003h

To "publish" on a local disk, just just the "Write" button,
not the "Publish" button. To find the directory where the
files are placed, check the Output tab under the "Configure"
button.

I got over the problem.
FYI
I saw the problem when I have used the default directory i.e the
c:\Program Files\....

I changed the output directory to c;\test
and I see the files are properly generated.

Thanks

I presume that you look in the directory specified in the configuration
for the HTML output path, correct? That is where the html files will be
located. What path did you specify?

The comma delimited files you saw are most likely the calendar data files
that are under the program directory.

You can transfer the files manually with and ftp client, or you can
specify you server information in the Output configuration and the
calendar program will transfer them for you.

Brent.

Hi
I downloaded the calendar program yesterday. I configured the file
extension to be .html , gave full path to html output.
entered some info by double clicking on the date cells. I then
clicked on write.
There are whole bunch of files written, but none with a .html
extension. I opened up some file in text editor there are some ,
delimited files and some blank.

1. Where is is I am going wrong.
2. How do i copy the generated files ( once i know how to generate)
to webserver. If it is just html I know how but if they come with
other files I dont know.

Looks like a great tool, I really want to use it. but I will need
some help.

Thanks

Hi Brent,
Sorry, I'm still having problem with the header and footer stuff. The
calendar program itself is working fine but I need this on a page
with additional information.

I have followed your directions. The calendar is outputting to a sub
directory. It does fine. I've tried this with the header and footer
files in both the root and in the sub directory. each time I have
changed the path in the additional html boxes. I still have not
managed to get the calendar on my page set up.

It is out there.....I put a temp link on the home page if it would be
helpful for you to look at it.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Paula

Paula,

I guess the documentation isn't too descriptive. It basically says what I said
in my
previous message.

Anyway, here is what you do.

1. Make a page that looks like what you want without the calendar.

2. Save the page twice. Once as the header file and once as the footer file.

3. Load the header file. Delete everything that appears after the point where
you want
the calendar to appear.

4. Load the footer file. Delete everything that appears before the point where
you want
the calendar to appear.

5. In the program configuration identify the header and footer files in the
Additional
HTML section.

That's it. What the program should do now when you make the calender files is it
will get
the header file and write it to the calendar file. It will write the calendar
part of the page,
then it will get the footer file and add it to the bottom. In this way you can
make the
calendar page look just about any way you like.

Brent.

Brent,
<allows you to "insert" the calendar into another page of your
making. The documentation explains how to do this>

I can't find this information in the documentation. I did find the
filname list and that the HTMLCAL.HEADER file is the HTML code to be
placed in the file before the calendar and the HTMLCAL.FOOTER after
but where are those files. I can find the empty ones in the program
directory.

What simp[le step am I missing here. Letting the calendar make it's
own page it does great but I want to insert it on a page with other
information.

Thanks,
Paula

The calendar can be a page by itself, or you can incorporate it into another
page. To
incorporate it into another page you would want to use the external html
feature. This
allows you to "insert" the calendar into another page of your making. The
documentation
explains how to do this, but mainly you just make the page you want and split it
in to two
parts. The first being the header file and the second being the footer file. The
program
will create a calendar page using these files.

As to links to the calendar from other pages. That is up to you. You will have
to select
which files you want displayed. The calendar program cannot determine this.
