(By the way, I know I should probably send this to altnetconf list
instead, but I was hoping to sort of build more local relationships.)

Actually, I'm not sold on nmock2 vs rhino mocks, i was planning on
evaluating them both by writing the same test in both frameworks.
I've started with nmock2 and here's the problem that I'm having:
I set the following expectation,
Expect.Once.On(expiryService).Method("ExpireComments").With(new
string[] {"50", "60"});
and I end up with an Expectation not met exception, even though if I
step through this in the debugger, the method is called with the
appropriate argument. The exception sort of looks like it's not
treating the array as an array, so it's possible I'm doing something
dumb. Prior expectations work fine.
Would you mind giving me an example of what that expectation would
look like with rhino mocks?

I'm free this evening for an I'M session. I'm much more experienced with Rhino

So I'm a little behind the times in that I haven't done a lot of unit
testing with mock objects, and I'm trying to test some code that mocks
MSMQ and web service proxies (generated via asmx). I'm sort of having
trouble with what I'm guessing are kind of first-principles of using
mocks. Does anyone have a reference they'd recommend really highly, or
maybe be interest in chatting on AIM with me about it? My AIM name is
shawnhinsey.

Ok, I think we've run out of steam so I'm going to propose that we
settle on a first meeting:
Date:
12/13/2007
Time:
7:30 PM
Location:
Scott Singleton's house (thanks Scott - you're a lot closer to the metro than
my place).
If
that's cool, I'll send out an ICal (Scott can you forward the address for the
invite).
I'm 3.5 blocks off of the Braddock street metro, not sure about the other
locations.

hey, yeah, that was me who mentioned that i could probably set
something up here at the office. i'm definitely willing to do that,
but i sort of think that it'd be better to do something a little more
informal and reserve the office/conference room for a specific purpose
if we come up with one. (i think someone else also offered?)
that date is good for me. i'm in courthouse arlington, so alexandria
is okay. if possible, keeping wherever we decide to go metro
accessible would be ideal for me.

Deal then..
if you're using the DNS on GoDaddy then just make 'em point over to 208.41.229.82
Feel free to create a record for a sandbox site as well as a staging site if you wanted to sandbox->stage->publish to the main.
Point all recs to the same IP, ISA will flush out the rules by header.

Sounds like a plan. Honestly, i'm a bit pressed for time, so I'd be happy to hand that off. And I'd like to get more familiar with MOSS too.
i am pro-MOSS, i think it could be really useful for organizing our UG, if you've got an installation, my vote is too use it. the wikis are dead easy to setup, and it really gives us a lot of options for sharing our information.
(earlier i mentioned that i've drunk the moss kool-aid, right?)

Ok - absent any dissent this afternoon, looks like 12/13 it is for
the first meeting. As soon as we agree on a location I'll send an invite. I'm
open so I'd like to open it up for suggestions. most of the suggestionshave
been for a location/home in alexandria. I'm cool with that, but want to
reiterate that we'd like to be open to members outside of NoVA, so if that's
not convenient, please chime in.
With that said, I'd like to see a virtual show of hands for:
1. Scott's house
2. My house
3. Scott's(? - was it Scott that offered up his office) office
4. Some other location in Alexandria (we can look at a pub with a
private room)
I can't make the 11th (13th would be fine
though), but if it ends up being that day, I'll wish you all luck on the first
meeting and hope I can make the next one!
I'm glad to hear the call went well. I'm fine for either of those
dates and I live in Alexandria.

2. My house
3. Scott's(? - was it Scott that offered up his office) office
4. Some other location in Alexandria (we can look at a pub with a
private room)
5. Some other location in the area
Thanks,
Phil

I can't make the 11th (13th would be fine
though), but if it ends up being that day, I'll wish you all luck on the first
meeting and hope I can make the next one!
I'm glad to hear the call went well. I'm fine for either of those
dates and I live in Alexandria.

Ok - absent any dissent this afternoon, looks like 12/13 it is for the first meeting. As soon as we agree on a location I'll send an invite. I'm open so I'd like to open it up for suggestions. most of the suggestionshave been for a location/home in alexandria. I'm cool with that, but want to reiterate that we'd like to be open to members outside of NoVA, so if that's not convenient, please chime in.

if you're using the DNS on GoDaddy then just make 'em point over to 208.41.229.82
Feel free to create a record for a sandbox site as well as a staging site if you wanted to sandbox->stage->publish to the main.
Point all recs to the same IP, ISA will flush out the rules by header.

While they may be overkill for this they have about all the functionality we may need OOTB. Wiki's, meeting spaces, etc.

On last night's call we agreed we wanted to keep the momentum
going and thought a December meeting before the holidays would be a good thing.
With that said, I'm proposing that we meet on the week of 12/14 (mostly
becuase, selfishly, I have a lot going on next week). So, group, how's
either 12/11 or 12/13 sound? Also, I know there were some Maryland folks who
weren't on the call and I want to make sure location is acceptable.

That's a good recap from memory - especially for an old guy :-P
I'll add a few things:
- We agreed on a once a month meeting schedule
- Also, while most of us on the call live inside the beltway in VA, we definitely want to make sure we find locations that are good for the group (maybe shuffling around the area) since the metro area is huge and I know there are folks with jobs/homes in Maryland and at least one of the members on the list is in the Baltimore area as well. That said, we really didn't finalize a location for the first meeting. My home is up as a possiblity as I believe Shawn offered the possiblity of using one of his office's conference rooms. Both are in Alexandria and we're open to other possibilities.
- I am indeed working on some tools for WPF dev - testing related. Looking at building a set of containers and helpers for doing UI automation driven testing of WPF apps. Thinking hard about fitting into NUnit or NBehave type tools (NUnit is easy - not so sure about NBehave).
- I think we all expressed an interest in gaining exposure to items we're not very comfortable or experienced with and it looks like we have a nice mix of skills/focus areas so that we all can learn from each other
- My company offered to host the dcaltnet site. We have a wiki up. I need to grab a domain from GoDaddy and add som structure. Working on that tonight. Any suggestions of domain names are appreciated as I am naming challenged (just look at some of my class names :-) )

I knew I should have taken better notes J
Here’s my concise recap:
Attendees (Forgive me if I miss this):
Ajepst (Anne I believe.. shoot me if I’m wrong)
Matt P.
Shawn H.
Scott S.
Phil M.
My quick notes:
We like the idea of alt.net.
The current .net user groups in the area just aren’t satisfying.
We prefer casual drinking and discussing over formal presentations and sleepy PowerPoint slides.
I’m old
Matthew’s doing some cool stuff with WCF
Phil’s working on some base utility containers, was this with WPF? didn’t note.
Phil admits to cutting his teeth on Pascal.
Shawn was interested in (insert tech here.. I failed to note this)
A few of us live in the Alexandria Area.
Tuesdays are decent meeting nights.
Phil will throw out some Dec. Dates for our first get together.
We need to find a bar/restaurant with a side/back room to avoid the general bar noise.
Several offered up houses/offices as initial meeting spaces

The current .net user groups in the area just aren’t satisfying.
We prefer casual drinking and discussing over formal
presentations and sleepy PowerPoint slides.
I’m old
Matthew’s doing some cool stuff with WCF
Phil’s working on some base utility containers, was this
with WPF? didn’t note.
Phil admits to cutting his teeth on Pascal.
Shawn was interested in (insert tech here.. I failed to note
this)
A few of us live in the Alexandria Area.
Tuesdays are decent meeting nights.
Phil will throw out some Dec. Dates for our first get together.
We need to find a bar/restaurant with a side/back room to avoid
the general bar noise.
Several offered up houses/offices as initial meeting spaces

Due to vacations and such I joined up a bit late. I'm available for any discussions though I'd hate to slow the process down trying to play catch-up.
If possible I'd like to offer up my list of potential goals -- or what I see as potential benefits from being in this organization.
All:
I can make myself available. What is the contact information again?

Hi folks,
Hope the holiday weekend was a good one. We put off an organizing con
call last week as most members were tavelling or unavailable due to
the holiday.
We had some informal e-mail chatter last week about organizing, but no
real structure has evolved. I'd like to propose a con call this
evening or tomorrow evening at 7 PM Eastern.
Agenda:
1. Structure: the pub club has been suggested and received positive
comments. Any other ideas or dissent?
2. Schedule: at this point nothing's been discussed
3. Goals
Thanks,
Phil
