Availability of computer animation of wood decay process?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #214 of 347 |
Can anyone tell me whether there are any computer animations (or
anything similar) available illustrating the wood decay process which
could be used in an interpretative display for people visiting places with
important populations of deadwood organisms? And, if so, how I might
get access to them?

The idea is to show - in an interesting and attractive way:
- how heartwood decay fungi hollow the dead interiors of living trees
- how a wide range of organisms exploit this process
- and therefore why it is important to conserve decaying wood.

The intention is to get across some understanding of what is happening,
to gain improved sympathy from visitors towards dead wood and fungi in
the countryside.

If nothing is available some quotes for how much this would cost may be
sought in the near future!

Thanks.

Keith
