I would have to say, I have learned, as I studied tree anatomy,  that, we would be wise to claim to be working with symplastlesswood.
 
I have some work we have put together here:
 
See [Logging "What it Is"]  I go alittle into symplastless wood.  Its just to easy, to call something dead.  Maybe an sound adjustment is needed.
 
If anyone would like three files emailed to them let me know.
